Cars + Festivals = One Epic Time!

How to Take Part in Automotive Festivals

Automotive festivals bring together enthusiasts who share a passion for cars, whether they appreciate classic models, modern performance vehicles, custom builds, or rare collectibles. These events offer the chance to showcase your vehicle, meet like-minded people, and learn from others in the automotive community. If you are thinking about attending your first festival, taking a little time to prepare beforehand can help you enjoy the experience while presenting your vehicle at its best. But how does that fit into The Festival Voice? Well, just you wait until we share!

Choose the Right Event

Not every automotive festival is the same, so it is worth researching events before registering. Some festivals focus on classic cars, while others celebrate modified vehicles, muscle cars, luxury models, or specific manufacturers. Choosing an event that matches your vehicle will help you connect with people who share your interests and ensure your car fits naturally into the lineup.

Many festivals also include competitions, demonstrations, trade stands, and educational talks, making them enjoyable whether you plan to exhibit your vehicle or simply attend as a visitor.

But there’s more! There are festivals that combine both automotive and music! For example, GRIDLIFE just brought its signature blend of grassroots motorsports and music festival culture back to upstate New York for Summer Apex, July 24-26, 2026. This particular festival took place at Watkins Glen International. As a result, the three-day event featured two massive nights of music–headlined by BUNT. Friday, July 24, and a Bassmint label takeover Saturday, July 25, curated by Teddy Pain (aka T-Pain)–set against a daytime backdrop of high-speed racing, full-course drifting, and a curated car show. While we missed out in this case, we can plan ahead for next year!

This isn’t the only event out there- although I am sure there are more than we share in this article. Another example is the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), producers of the SEMA Show, the major trade-only automotive aftermarket event held annually in Las Vegas. And they have announced the musical lineup for SEMA Fest, taking place Friday, November 6, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Headlined by multi-platinum punk rock icons The Offspring, the lineup also features anthemic alt-rockers Jimmy Eat World, genre-blending rock reggae outfit 311, and California rock band The Alive. Together, these chart-topping, arena-caliber acts will bring their catalog of massive hits to SEMA Fest, delivering the ultimate intersection of high-octane and high-decibels, a one-day celebration of the long-standing bond between music and car culture that closes out SEMA Week with an unforgettable public experience.  See? You can enjoy cars, racing, and festivals all in one!

Prepare Your Vehicle

Before the event, give your vehicle a thorough inspection and clean it carefully inside and out. Washing, polishing, and detailing your car will help it make a great first impression, while checking fluid levels, tire pressures, and lights can reduce the chance of unexpected problems during your journey.

If your vehicle has an interesting history or unique modifications, consider preparing a small information sheet. Visitors often enjoy learning about restoration projects, performance upgrades, or the story behind a particular model.

There for the music alone? Awesome! Check out the cars!

Register Early and Plan Ahead

Popular automotive festivals can fill their exhibition spaces well in advance, so registering early is often worthwhile. Once your place has been confirmed, review the organizer’s guidance regarding arrival times, display requirements, and any documentation you may need to bring.

Planning your route, accommodation, and parking arrangements ahead of time can also make the day much less stressful, particularly if you are traveling a considerable distance.

Consider Vehicle Transport for Long-Distance Events

If you are attending a festival far from home, driving may not always be the most practical option, especially if your vehicle is a classic, a collector’s model, or has recently been restored. In these situations, professional vehicle transport can provide added convenience and peace of mind.

For example, if your journey involves the nation’s capital, working with experienced shippers to transport your car from or to Washington, DC can help minimize unnecessary mileage and reduce wear during long-distance travel. Professional transport services are also a popular choice for owners who want their vehicles to arrive in excellent condition before a show or festival.

Make the Most of the Experience

Automotive festivals are about much more than displaying vehicles. Take time to speak with fellow enthusiasts, explore the exhibits, and participate in activities throughout the event. Conversations with other owners can provide valuable advice on maintenance, restoration techniques, and future events worth attending. Remember to take photographs, exchange contact details with people you meet, and enjoy the opportunity to become part of the wider automotive community.

Again, you can take part in so much fun- whether you’re into cars, racing, or music…. or all of the above! What sets Summer Apex apart from traditional music festivals is the seamless crossover between the artists and the action. Before headlining the Bassmint takeover on Saturday night, T-Pain will actually be suiting up and drifting the iconic Watkins Glen circuit alongside the rest of the festival’s drivers. How cool is that?

And we’re not alone- SEMA Fest holds the vibes too!

“SEMA Fest represents where our industry is headed, at the crossroads of innovation, lifestyle, and cultural relevance,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA Vice President of Events. “By bringing together the world’s premier automotive gathering with iconic music, immersive automotive experiences, and enthusiast access, we are creating a powerful platform that expands the reach of car culture, strengthens engagement with new audiences, and sends SEMA Week out on a high-energy, high-impact note.”

SEMA Fest serves as the official “closing ceremony” of SEMA Week, transforming the world’s premier automotive trade show into a massive public celebration and extending the energy of the SEMA Show into a day-long experience

The day begins inside the Las Vegas Convention Center, where attendees can explore the SEMA Show floor, including 2,000-plus exhibiting brands and vendors, thousands of custom builds, and the latest in automotive products and technology.

As the day continues, the action moves outdoors for the legendary SEMA Cruise and high-intensity motorsports demonstrations that keep the excitement building throughout the afternoon.

Then, as the sun sets, attention turns to the SEMA Fest Stage, where live music and automotive adrenaline come together in one immersive environment. The automotive excitement continues into the evening with featured vehicle displays and motorsports performances that keep car culture front and center through the final encore.

Closing Words

Taking part in an automotive festival is a rewarding experience for anyone who enjoys cars. With the right preparation, automotive festivals offer an excellent opportunity to celebrate your passion, meet fellow enthusiasts, and create lasting memories.
