Art Installations Galore At North Coast

Get ready to experience everything North Coast has to offer! The festival has unveiled experimental programming, a brand new stage design, and daily schedules for its upcoming 2023 edition, taking place Friday, September 1 – Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Chicagoland’s SeatGeek Stadium Campus. It’s going to be a crazy time, trust me, I went last year and the festival was crazy!

Ready for a killer lineup? I sure am! The festival will feature headliners such as MarshmelloFlumeDJ SnakeAlison WonderlandAlessoLane 8 (This Never Happened Takeover), Big Gigantic and NGHTMRE’s collaborative GIGANTIC NGHTMREZeds DeadDuke Dumont,  Chris Lake (Black Book Records Takeover),  Black Tiger Sex MachineDabinMKZomboyLiquid Stranger (WAKAAN Takeover), and Ganja White Night. It’ll bring the HEAT!

It is simply phenomenal when festivals listen their fans. And let me tell you, North Coast listened to fan feedback and has proudly revealed a new-and-improved stage design for The Vega. This year, The Vega will be pointing away from The Shipyard (fka The Canopy) to avoid sound bleed and maximize the volume at both stages – now, the waves of beats and bass will stretch all the way to those in the back as well as to those riding the rails. Get it!

North Coast has also unveiled its new stage, The Shipyard (formerly known as The Canopy) – a newly designed stage that bumps with 492,000 WATTS of sound from world-class house and techno DJs. Constructed with shipping containers and equipped with CO2 and an eye-popping amount of lasers and lights, The Shipyard brings a welcome new addition to the North Coast experience. We’re ready to RAGE!

And there are art installations galore at North Coast! Tons!

Part of those installations include the ever popular Chill Dome! This is a full field soccer dome that immerses you in lasers, cushions (AND AIR CONDITIONING!) There are DJs playing in the Chill Dome too! Check out some great downtempo, lofi, and deep house In The Round. Designed as a place for attendees to cool down and take a break, The Chill Done has added new features this year, including headlining sets from INZOChampagne Drip, and Surf Mesa; yoga sessions to start off each day; vocalist Evan Giia hosting a special GIIA MOVE session; a 360° stage; and double the lasers. Cool off from the heat and take a break- but still enjoy your time!

In addition, the Beatbox Yacht Club is making its return to the Coast! This a boat onsite with interior rooms that attendees can explore, a bar, and a deck at the top for a bird’s eye view above the crowd of The Shipyard stage. Take some time and explore!

If you are ready for the heat- head on over to the Fire Pit Stage, a set of geometric domes that shoot fire from their tops and contain ceilings with fire crawling above the fans. There will also be a DJ booth playing heavy bass music, with headlining sets from Daily BreadA Hundred Drums, and Masteria. Spend some time bopping around and grooving the night away!

Their are tons of other art installations making their way to North Coast as well! Check out the Rainbow Lounge, a circle of hammocks fashioned around scaffolding that light up at night; The Giant, a large tree man sculpture by Paul Khan; and the kinetic Zephyrs backdrop.

We’re not done yet because North Coast Music Festival 2023 is also welcoming new additions to its experiential programming, including The Pixel Path, a set of large, glow-in-the-dark cubes that attendees can walk through along the main path. It’s going to be gorgeous- we can’t wait to see it!

Can you find Club Coast, a secret location speakeasy? This is BRAND NEW this year but you’ve got to find it on your own. Plus, you gotta find the password given on the North Coast app. I’m going to be looking for it- that’s for sure.

Debut additions are rounded out by a new ferris wheel and BassBot a large moving robot sculpture by Paul Khan, situated in The Vega field, ready to headbang to the Vega’s bass heavy lineup. So much to do and explore!

Add all this fun into a killer lineup and you’ve got one weekend of fun lined up!
