Bimini Road, Take Me Away and Get Me Tied Up
Moon Boots recruits Kenny Dope and Mat Zo for remix duty on Bimini Road album single âTied Upâ
Brooklyn-based DJ and recording artist Moon Boots has a mission of making infectious music that transcends genre. For instance, this includes songs not just for DJs and dance-floors, but for everyone. His sophomore album, 2019âs Bimini Road was widely eclectic. The album pulled influences including Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter, and Paul Johnson, to name a few. The album release was celebrated with a live world tour featuring a seven-piece multicultural band.Â

Bimini Road is a long and winding path and weâve not yet reached its end. Moon Boots has recruited the legendary Kenny Dope (Masters At Work) and talented progressive producer Mat Zo to remix the single âTied Up (feat. Steven Klavier.â) Kenny Dope fattens up the original more with a deep bassline and some disco-house flair. Mat Zo lives up to his reputation as one of dance musicâs most versatile contemporary producers with a remix that leans heavily on 2-Step and French House.Â
“Iâm honored to release these official remixes from my Bimini Road LP. Kenny Dopeâs remix is timeless, with slick funky parts on electric bass, rhythm guitar, and synth that perfectly complement Steven Klavierâs vocals. Mat Zo is a very gifted & versatile producer in his own right and he takes the energy up to 11 with some really bananas sound design along the way. Theyâre both really different from each other, and from the original, which I dig. Pick your poison!,” Moon Boots says.Â
The Discovery of the Album
The discovery of the ruins of Atlantis at Bimini in the Bahamas influenced Bimini Road. Moon Bootsâ sophomore album Bimini Road is a joyous listen that combines elements of soulful & melodic house, disco, and R&B. The album includes the new single âClearâ as well as 2019 summer anthems âTied Upâ and âJuanitaâ. Both tracks have received airplay on SiriusXM, BBC Radio 1, triple j, and KCRW. Additionally, the track has DJ support from Claptone, Above & Beyond, The Black Madonna, Diplo and many more. âJuanitaâ was premiered by Mixmag (who called the song âa show-stopperâ), and the video for âClearâ is a retro-fantastic delight, check it out here.
Bimini Road features collaborators from both Moon Bootsâ debut album First Landing and his ambitious 7-person live show. For example, Black Gatsby (âPowerâ), Nic Hanson (âKeep The Faithâ), KONA (âFortune Tellerâ) all make appearances that help to make Bimini Road Moon Bootsâ most compelling musical statement to date. In addition, Ross Clark (St Lucia) contributes guitar to three of the albumâs hookiest and most affecting tracks. Finally, the album also features new collaborators, including Little Boots, Niia, Kaleena Zanders, and Gary Saxby of the Harlem Gospel Choir.Â
