Labor Day Weekend is upon us, signaling the end of summer. Chilly weather is slowly settling back into Seattle. Bumbershoot serves as our annual hurrah, celebrating what an incredible summer we’ve had before the city is ready for its hibernation. For the lucky few who scored tickets to Bumbershoot, congratulations! You’re in for a treat. For 46 years, Bumbershoot has graced us with a full weekend celebrating the uniqueness of the Pacific Northwest. Here are the top three things I’m most looking forward to this Saturday and Sunday.
You Better Strut, Baby!
FATHOM’s annual Fashion District runway show is a crowd favorite, and it’s returning for 2026, taking over the Alki courtyard. In a city rarely recognized for its fashion sense, these Seattle-based designers are rewriting the narrative, bringing bold creativity and detailed craftsmanship to the runway. It’s a grand yet intimate experience, a front-row seat to the future of fashion in the Emerald City. This year, Bumbershoot’s fashion runways are highlighting Indigenous styles, technology’s role in fashion, and teenage fashion designers.
What’s Cookin’, Good Lookin’?
Festivals typically aren’t known for their food, but things are a little different at Bumbershoot. From James Beard Award-winning vendors to small mom and pop shops, there’s something for everybody. Some of my personal favorites in Seattle, Spice Waala and Lenox, are making appearances this weekend. Craving something sweet? Indigo Cow, a popular Japanese ice cream shop from Wallingford, will also be on-site to satisfy your sweet tooth while you enjoy the festivities.
Two Words: Cat. Circus.
No show captures the PNW’s quirkiness quite like the Monty Zoo cat circus. All adoptable and adorable, this fan-favorite exhibition (performance is too strong a word) showcases felines ready for adoption in a circus-themed world built just for them to… ignore the rest of us. The cats are stealing hearts again this year, and you and your family might just come home with a new roommate.
