Futurebirds Bring Highball Festival to Atlanta
This fall is packed with music in Atlanta with shows and events such as Music Midtown and the Run the Jewels 4-night residency. Among the business is yet another event, a festival experience curated by Rival Entertainment and Futurebirds that is called Highball. The event will take place at Pullman Yards on October 21st and 22nd with a lineup curated by Futurebirds including headliners Band of Horses and The Head and the Heart. Carter King, the guitarist and singer of Futurebirds, has this to say about the lineup and event:
“It’s a wild wild dream to have the chance to help curate a festival bill, full of some of our favorite bands and best friends, in our home state, not far from where a handful of us grew up and experienced live music for the first time. It’s a full-circle experience, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunity. The lineup is insane; the venue is gorgeous. I can’t wait to see y’all out there in October.”
Highball has been in the works for the past two years since Pullman Yards opened as an event space and beverage hall. I think something like this event was inevitable, more talking about using Pullman as a festival space. I saw Goose perform inside Pullman last year and was blown away by the venue. It was my first time there, but the space captured my attention immediately with a massive indoor stage area and an outdoor alley of food trucks. I was thinking an EDM event would be the one, but I am not mad that Futurebirds is throwing their inaugural festival experience instead.
Tickets are on sale for this event at the Highball website. There are both single-day and weekend tickets available with additional options for general admission and VIP. As someone that has been to the venue for a sold-out show, if you want to have easy pit access, I recommend getting a VIP ticket. Pullman Yards can hold thousands of people and is standing room only. If you are making your way from out of town, I recommend looking for a hotel sooner than later. Pullman Yards is a bit away from downtown Atlanta proper and doesn’t have a ton of hotel options immediately nearby. However, it is right next to a cute neighborhood called Kirkwood which has great dining options and is a 10-minute walk away.
I am looking forward to Highball and seeing this event evolve in the future. I hope it can become another yearly music festival that joins the ranks of Music Midtown, Shaky Knees, and Sweetwater 420 Fest. Hope to see yall there!
