The BPM Festival: Costa Rica

Jey Kurmis – Spiral
Leeds-based producer/DJ Jey Kurmis has shared a new single ‘Spiral’ out now via Dirtybird Records.
‘Spiral’ is an imaginative sonic adventure that twists and turns through dizzying synth melodies and buoyant percussive rhythms. Aptly named, the popcorn-patterened track gyrates with psychoactive energy throughout its stimulating 3 minutes. An outstanding offering from Kurmis, ‘Spiral’ is a charismatic cut that aligns with the frisky attitude of Dirtybird’s near 20-year catalog.

Kx5 – Escape
When Kaskade (Ryan Raddon) and deadmau5 (Joel Zimmerman) first partnered on their 2008 smash “I Remember,” the pair were leading names in the rapidly expanding electronic music scene that enraptured a generation of music lovers across America. 15 years later, the duo formalized their occasional collaborations and long-running friendship into Kx5 and released their GRAMMY(r)-nominated self-titled, independently released album Kx5 (mau5trap/Arkade/AWAL). Today, November 20, Kx5’s 2022 debut single “Escape” featuring UK artist HAYLA returned to mainstream interest, appearing at #1 on Shazam’s U.S. dance chart and #47 on U.S. Top 200. The placements were propelled by the song appearing in the latest episode (S2 E6) of popular Apple TV show “Shrinking.”

Lumasi – Morning Dub
One of bass music’s fastest-rising producers, Lumasi, dropped a hot new single called ‘Mourning Dub’ on Friday. It is the first track of his upcoming Sun & Moon EP. ‘Mourning Dub’ blends the nostalgic sound of a bird’s call with powerful bass reverberations and stunning sound design. It has been one of the highlights of his recent sets on the Sun & Moon Tour, which inspired the EP of the same name.

Tape B – Nocturnal
