Oh boy, festival season is in full swing! We’ve been a little quieter at The Festival Voice lately because people are so busy going to festivals like crazy! Spencer Brown- Blue Magic / Rainy April

Following the release of Spencer Brown & Qrion’s single ‘Rainy April’, Spencer now releases his latest offering ‘Blue Magic’ (feat. Danny Shamoun) as the second half of this double A-side package.
 
With releases on both Anjunadeep and Anjunabeats, Spencer has quickly become a globally beloved artist. With an impressive portfolio of releases including two mixed albums, and his recent single with Above & Beyond’s Tony McGuinness ‘Santorini’, Spencer’s versatile productions have been supported by the likes of Calvin Harris, John Digweed, Yotto, and Danny Howard at BBC Radio 1.

Qrion- Your Love

Acclaimed Japanese-American producer Qrion proudly announces her debut album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’, out October 29 via Anjunadeep. The album announcement comes alongside the release of the first single ‘Your Love’, out now.
 
Qrion, real name Momiji Tsukada, wrote ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ primarily during the lockdown in San Francisco. ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ invokes the emotions Tsukada felt during her adventurous move from hometown Sapporo to sunny San Francisco and pays homage to Tsukada’s memories of her childhood and her father. Tsukada presents a versatile collection of electronica and club tracks, with introspective cuts like ‘It’s All Over’ and ‘Maybe It Was Already Here’ appearing alongside lively club anthems such as ‘11-11’ and ‘Proud’. The album also notably features collaborations with talented British musician Flownn, Canadian vocalist and composer Kroy, and California’s Mars Kasei.

Y do I- I Know

I Know – the full-length debut album from burgeoning Israeli production duo Y do I – is out now via Area Verde.

Following a slew of critically-acclaimed EP and single releases on the likes of Trippy Code, Take My Space and Area Verde over the course of their collaborative musical career, I Know marks the first full studio long-player from partners Amos Chalfon and David Semo, who have been producing and performing together under the Y do I moniker since 2019.

The Bots- 2Seater

Big Indie Records and rock band The Bots are excited to announce the release of 2 Seater, the LA-based outfit’s first full-length offering in seven years. Produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer Adrian Quesada of Black Pumas and out today, 2 Seater is the brainchild of musician Mikaiah Lei and is a multi-style body of work that captures the struggles of his young adulthood. Each of the 10 tracks that make up 2 Seater were written between the ages of 19 and 22 when Lei was undergoing a rapid burst of self-growth. Now, as a 28-year-old, Lei has rewritten and recorded those songs to articulate themes he struggled to find words for back then: the ups and downs of young love, the need to nurture friendships, and the sentimental work of taking care of yourself each day.

Conrank and Figure- Karma Restored

Conrank is back and this time brings a friend in the form of the legendary Figure! A combination of everything we love, loud, astonishing synths, drums causing havoc and Conrank singing like we haven’t heard him before!
 
Figure’s career spans 14 years with multiple albums under his belt. Best known for his horror themes mixed with aggressive sounds, he’s a regular contributor for Universal’s Halloween Horror nights theme parks. He runs his own ‘Doom’ imprintand is a living legend in the Dubstep scene.
 
Conrank takes vocals even further on this one and teaming up with Figure proves the perfect combination for the multitude of sounds. More is to come from the Circus resident, expect the album announcement any day now.

Soda State- Electrified

Soda State are Mike “M” Ridley and Sam Tracie, a fast-emerging DJ and producer duo who are part human and part digital avatar. They release their next track ‘Electrified’ on today via their own Club Soda label.

TROPO- Siente Tu Corazon

Californian producer Tropo (Tyson Leonard) is known for his lyrical and hypnotic house music. Fusing live violin in a mix of brooding ethnic electronic and organic collaborations with musicians from around the world, Tropo has worked with fellow artists such as Ayla Nereo, The Polish Ambassador, Alan Parsons, and Wildlight. Tropo’s debut album Mira released on Jumpsuit Records, is a meditative journey. Now, Tropo is excited to share Siente Tu Corazon, coming out via Gravitas Recordings on September 7. The songs on this album come from Tropo’s travels around Mexico, Turkey, Russia and Austria and were made with people Tropo met on his travels, igniting stories and weaving a fabric through music and time. TROPO meaning “the moment in time or the point in space where change occurs” perfectly captures the essence of the cultures around the globe in the auditory exploration within Siente Tu Corazon.

Jean-Michel Jarre- Amazônia

Earlier this spring, electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre released the musical score for Amazônia, the latest project by award winning photographer and filmmaker Sebastião Salgado which made its debut to high acclaim at the Philharmonic Paris.  A portion of the Amazônia exhibition–which was due to travel to Rome, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and London prior to arriving stateside, but was rerouted due to the global pandemic–is now on view in Los Angeles.  Now through November 13, a select number of images from Amazônia as well as others from Salgado’s catalogue are on view at the Peter Fetterman Gallery at Bergamont Station in Santa Monica, CA.
