Brook Pridemore- Glad To Be Alive
Fresh home from a US tour to a Brooklyn that was silenced by the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployed and unable to play live, Brook Pridemore was overcome with a flurry of middle-of-the-night songwriting. More intimate and unflinchingly honest than anything they’d written before, this batch of nascent songs painted snapshots of the most trying moments of the songwriter’s life: an altercation with a teacher (“The Man Who Tried to Kill Me”), the suicide of a childhood friend (“Learned to Play the Drums”), etc. Pridemore imagined this songbook to be a humble demo, a la Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

Dear Boy are excited for today’s release of Forever Sometimes, out now via Last Gang (order). Across the anticipated album’s 13 tracks, the band grapples with life after death, love after life, life after love, the paradox of closeness, the complexity of what it means to leave something or someone behind, when do you say goodbye? These are some of the ideas that Dear Boy has been exploring since their first days as a band…And in that way, Forever Sometimes is as close to a concept album as a non-concept album gets. SPIN Magazine says, “Songs like the title track, “Say When,” “Wet Clothes,” and “(On My) Mind” are equal parts warm, romantic, sexy, dramatic, sacred, and profane.

Gatherers- gift horse
New Jersey’s Gatherers (gatherersband.com) announce their new full-length album ( mutilator. ), due out November 18th via No Sleep Records. Gatherers possess all the attributes that so many bands making heavier rock strive to master and incorporate into their sound. The five piece effortlessly blend melody with dynamic and fluid movements between guitars and drums that push the speakers to their limits, and softer reflective interludes that further highlight the incredible range of singer Rich Weinberger’s vocals, pipes that might likely evoke Chino Moreno or an early career Jeremy Egnik. Today the band share the new single “gift horse”, which features vocals from Geoff Rickly and arrives with an accompanying music video directed by Gatherer’s own Weinberger.
Gabriel & Dresden- Bias
Following her highly-praised debut Monstercat EP, ‘GODSP33D,’ Adelaide-born producer Godlands is back with her latest dose of bass-fueled trap on the new single, “CASHMERE.” Bringing Melbourne’s breakout rapper and producer boler mani with her, the track flexes each of their out-of-the-box stylings, with Godlands balancing Eastern-inspired samples with aggressive kicks, while boler spits emphatic bars. No strangers to experimentation, the synergistic pair are firing on all cylinders with raw intensity that appeals to hip-hop heads and dubstep fans alike.
Hot Buttered Rum- Shine All Night
Like a long, dark piece of music, the pandemic started small, then got big, and loud, and painfully dissonant. Hot Buttered Rum did their best to cope with its indignities, as most did, and much of that coping was done through the business of making lots and lots of noise. The songs that emerged from all this noise-making are a little louder than any the band has released to date in what became the latest album, Shine All Night. Hot Buttered Rum hopes to help provide some cheer in the times ahead, whether those times are brighter, darker or, as so often, somewhere in between.

Although similarly dramatic with catchy surges of unabashed emotion, You Had To Be There features a melancholy rush of high-octane energy with shadows that lurk within the foundations of these 10 songs.
Stream the album’s new single, “Kinda Over It,” a song about the shadiness, the back-and-forth and unnecessary headaches of a relationship that’s not quite a relationship.
