Brook Pridemore- Glad To Be Alive

Fresh home from a US tour to a Brooklyn that was silenced by the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, unemployed and unable to play live, Brook Pridemore was overcome with a flurry of middle-of-the-night songwriting. More intimate and unflinchingly honest than anything they’d written before, this batch of nascent songs painted snapshots of the most trying moments of the songwriter’s life: an altercation with a teacher (“The Man Who Tried to Kill Me”), the suicide of a childhood friend (“Learned to Play the Drums”), etc. Pridemore imagined this songbook to be a humble demo, a la Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

The songs that emerged from all this noise-making are a little louder than any the band has released to date in what became the latest album, Shine All Night. Hot Buttered Rum hopes to help provide some cheer in the times ahead, whether those times are brighter, darker or, as so often, somewhere in between.

Westend, Role-Models, and Eluera- Moderation (At Night)

Westend, Role-Models, and Eluera come together on their new single “Moderation (At Night),” a stunning melodic house creation slated for release on Insomniac Records.

NYC-based phenom Westend has cemented himself as an unstoppable force in house music. He’s also become a familiar face on the Insomniac Records catalog, originally debuting with his four-track ‘Collide’ EP before dropping his more recent singles “New Dawn” and the Ranger Trucco-assisted “Life of Sin.” Westend is stepping up with his latest appearance, this time teaming up with a freshly formed house project named Role-Models, the brainchild of two established producers from Sydney. On “Moderation (At Night),” they work around a lush vocal from Aussie indie pop singer-songwriter Eluera. She harps on her inability to stay inside the lines of her own self-imposed limits, with her silky vocals being propped up by a melodic tech groove that amplifies the sweet, self-aware wallowing exhibited by Eluera.

Young Culture- Kinda Over It

Equal Vision Records and New York-based pop-punk trio Young Culture are excited to announce the FridayNovember 11 release of You Had To Be There, the band’s forthcoming full-length album. Recorded with Anton DeLost (State Champs, Silverstein, Mayday Parade) in Toronto, ON, it feels like the trio — vocalist Alex Magnan and guitarists Gabe Pietrafesa and Troy Burchett — are coming down from the lovestruck high of a year ago marked by the band’s Godspeed EP. Although similarly dramatic with catchy surges of unabashed emotion, You Had To Be There features a melancholy rush of high-octane energy with shadows that lurk within the foundations of these 10 songs.

Stream the album’s new single, “Kinda Over It,” a song about the shadiness, the back-and-forth and unnecessary headaches of a relationship that’s not quite a relationship.
