The Bunker (Wait, WHAT?)Is Coming To North Coast

I don’t know about you, but North Coast is one of my favorite festivals around. And this year- they’re celebrating 16 years of fun! And get ready for a major expansion of its beloved Chill Dome stage experience and the introduction of an entirely new nighttime concept: The Bunker. Returning September 4–6, 2026 at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, North Coast further cements its status as one of the most diverse and forward-thinking festivals in electronic music and as Chicago’s largest independently owned electronic music festival. We love that it is independent- that’s the right move!

Although I’ve been to North Coast many times, alas, I have yet to check out the Chill Dome. Long regarded as a fan-favorite escape within the festival grounds, the Chill Dome returns in 2026 as a fully programmed daytime environment featuring alternative sets, special guest performances, and experiential programming featuring an unforgettable laser show. I’m excited to see what they cook up! Designed as a sonic refuge from the mainstage intensity, the Dome continues to spotlight both established artists and unexpected creative explorations, reinforcing North Coast’s commitment to multi-dimensional programming across.

This year, however, the Chill Dome undergoes its most significant evolution yet.

At night, the Chill Dome will transform into The Bunker, a brand-new immersive hard techno & Riddim stage concept making its official debut at North Coast 2026. Reimagined with darker production, industrial aesthetics, and an underground-forward sonic identity, The Bunker will feature 10+ hard techno and peak-time selectors, including Angerfist, Nikolina, Jazzy, Byorn, Diøn, Gravdgr, Dømina, Alignment, AYCH, RIIJA and riddim artists YDG, The Resistance, Nimda, and Prosecute – ushering in a new era for late-night programming at the festival. The transformation underscores North Coast’s continued expansion into the full spectrum of global electronic music culture, bridging melodic, bass, house, and hardcore into one unified experience. Sounds super sick!

Phase Two also welcomes additional artists across the broader festival bill, including bass and genre-blending acts Level Up, Sippy, Interplanetary Criminal, Jigitz, and more, further expanding an already stacked lineup led by Fisher, GRiZ, Illenium B2B Slander, Levity B2B Tape B, Porter Robinson (DJ Set), Gryffin, Ganja White Night, Sammy Virji, BUNT, Crankdat, Wooli, and others.

In addition to its international curation, North Coast continues to deepen its support of Chicago’s local DJ community, with more than 55+ local artists featured across the Firepit, Silent Disco, and Chill Dome programming. This ongoing investment reinforces the festival’s identity as both a global destination and a critical platform for emerging talent. What a neat concept!

Hosted by Collectiv Presents, North Coast continues to evolve its immersive festival environment across the expansive SeatGeek Stadium campus. With six distinct stages, intentional layout design, and production built for both scale and intimacy, the festival blends large-scale headline moments with deeply curated sonic spaces.

But there is so much to explore and do besides just listening to music! North Coast remains rooted in community, inclusion, and expression – creating an environment where fans can discover new sounds, connect across genres, and experience festival culture beyond performance alone. From interactive art installations and roaming performers to experiential side quests and elevated culinary offerings, North Coast continues to push the boundaries of what a modern music festival can be. I can’t wait to be back!

With additional programming, surprises, and final lineup announcements still to come, North Coast Music Festival 2026 is shaping up to be its most ambitious edition yet – marking 16 years at the forefront of electronic music culture.
