The Human Drum Project Brings Us Drums With EDM

We’ve got something great in store for you! We recently discovered The Human Drum Machine. Jake Ryan Dickinson, who hails from Los Angeles, has been behind the drum set for the past 23 years. With such an impressive amount of experience, Jake knows how to meld the power of percussion with modern bass music. This combo creates something truly magical as it blends live acoustic drums with electronic production. As a result, we see a combination of a DJ set and live band.

And The Human Drum Machine has been up to some big things! First off, Bad Girl, is his debut three-track EP. The tracks include “Bad Girl,” “Pogo Stick,” and “The Party Song. This EP is a strong mix of dubstep, hybrid trap, and bass-driven production. The EP is high energy but also has a playful and rebellious side, as you see throughout the narrative. Each track follows a trajectory- partying is a rush, but then it has consequences. You can, however, emerge on the other side to a healthier place. And live drums bring a whole separate experience to the fold as they enhance everything about the tracks.

During performances, Jake handles both the drums and the electronic production, using programmed sets to be able to provide you with a brand new experience, adding the drums. It’s a physical rush hearing both put together. And it’s something unique in the electronic scene. Many people outside of the scene complain that it is “just computer music” and they “need a live band.” This is the perfect combination of melding real drumming with electronic production.

Jake is an up-and-comer; however, he is praised by strong people in the industry such as EARMILK, who praised the release for bringing “raw percussion energy” back to bass music, highlighting its blend of real percussion, electronic energy, and dynamic performance in a time when the genre is increasingly dominated by heavy sound design.

Jake’s long-term vision is to grow his craft but also to let others experience the magic of a hybrid show. Wouldn’t it be great if you could experience both a band and an EDM show at the same time? Wouldn’t it be great if more artists embraced this lifestyle? This is something to keep your eyes on as The Human Drum Machine grows. Keep your eyes peeled for more information!
