The Lockdown Winners of Spotify

So I want to start by prefacing that all this information comes from Viberate, a great company who can help with all things music related! They looked into Spotify data analytics and found the top six genres, followed by the top 5 artists in each genre. We’ll cover all the genres here! All photo credits also go to Viberate as well.

After setting the parameters- here is what they found out as the top six genres:

Overall, it seems like the people really love their pop music. Electronic music still made the top six, however, they averaged 53 listeners to 1 follower. Sounds like many EDM fans are not using Spotify to its fullest potential, although I know many people use Soundcloud for music in the electronic field.

Pop Music

Overall, pop music scored in the highest. The data was a little surprising to me because I anticipated that many of the top artists would come from the US.

This data shows that most of these influential artists grew around 500%, however, Maximillian grew a whopping 3,430%! Talk about growth!! Check out why Viberate believes he earned this top spot!

Hip Hop

Next up is Hip Hop!!!

While the growth of these artists was astounding, it was nowhere near the growth that pop music had. Check why Viberate thinks that J.I The Prince of N.Y had the most growth!!

Latin Music

I find it awesome that a culturally and linguistically diverse type of music made the top six!! That shows how much love the people have for their music. Let’s check the stats on this one.

Rock Music

Gotta love that rock and roll! Out of all the genres here, this one is my second favorite (first one being electronic, of course.). I love that rock and roll! I will be honest and say that I haven’t kept up much on this genre lately.

Electronic Music

Finishing the list off is my personal favorite, electronic music. I’m not surprised at the top hit, that’s for sure! It’s neat to see Ben going big places! We’ve been providing lots of coverage on him recently!

What Can We Learn?

Viberate took a lot of time into analyzing this data and they shared a few things we can learn from this data. Check it out!

Do you have any favorite Spotify playlists? While I am not an avid user of the playlist feature, my boyfriend is! He’s constantly playing us new mixes and playlists that he found on Spotify’s lists. We find tons of great tracks here! It’s great to see how influential playlists are!

I would agree that the electronic community is the most divided. There are so many great artists who have just one hit. People hear a great track at a show or festival and they’ve got to play it. But that’s where it stops. It’s too bad that this community hasn’t reached longevity yet!

Do you use Tik Tok? Personally, I haven’t gotten into the craze yet but it is interesting to see that it is so influential!

What are your thoughts on this data? Do you listen to any of these artists? Thanks to Viberate for all of the information! If you’re an artist, you should check them out as they would be invaluable to your career!
