We’re Balling At Governors Ball
Governors Ball, New York City’s largest multi-genre music festival, returns to Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens this June. With 60 artists across 3 stages, there’s something for everyone. Headliners include Gov Ball veteran Lorde (2017), Stray Kids, and A$AP Rocky, representing alt-pop, K-pop, and East Coast hip-hop at the top of the poster. The undercard spans even more genres: indie rock, rap, R&B, electronic, and crossover acts, matching the increasingly diverse listening habits of audiences globally.

International artists are notable this year. Acts such as Rachel Chinouriri and Holly Humberstone bring the current U.K. alt-pop wave to Queens, and Australian bands including Amyl and the Sniffers and Confidence Man cover the indie and punk scenes. Stray Kids and Jennie’s billings are proof that K-pop groups continue to strengthen their headlining power at major U.S. festivals. KATSEYE, the globally assembled girl group with members from five countries, exemplifies the increasingly borderless nature of pop music, a natural fit into this year’s lineup.
Local talent is also represented throughout the weekend. Headliner A$AP Rocky, a Harlem native, closes out the festival on Sunday. Rapidly rising Brooklyn rock band Geese, who recently made their Saturday Night Live Debut, brings their experimental post-punk/indie-rock sound and reputation for intense live performances. The undercard also highlights emerging talent from the community. Students from School of Rock Queens and School of Rock New York have been invited to perform on the festival stages, giving young musicians a live festival experience in front of a large audience, sharing a stage with some of their favorite artists. The local artists don’t stop there; you can catch The Dare, Del Water Gap, Arcy Drive, Lexa Gates, The Backfires, and Chanpan.
Located in Queens and accessible by public transit from all five boroughs, the event integrates directly into city life. There is no tent or sleeping bag required for this festival. You can head home (or to your hotel!), shower, change clothes, recharge your phone, and hit the festival fresh the next day or head out to an after-party. Artists frequently appear at after-parties across Manhattan and Brooklyn. Though this year has yet to be announced, in previous years, Gov Ball has hosted an official Gov Ball After Dark series at venues throughout the city, featuring artists from the festival lineup in smaller, more intimate spaces.
Further programming details are yet to come. In past years, the festival has announced additional experiences, including artist meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, exclusive merch drops, and curated food and beverage activations. Keep an eye on official channels as the festival date approaches for announcements about this year’s special programming and any return of the After Dark series.
We’ll be back soon with a closer look at standout artists on the lineup and a breakdown of our top picks for the weekend. In the meantime, if you are a Spotify user, you can check out how your music tastes overlap with the Gov Ball lineup here.
Single-day and three-day passes are currently on sale, including General Admission, GA+, and VIP tiers. New this year is a Pit Viewing tier, which offers the best view available: an exclusive viewing area at all three stages just in front of VIP. Prices vary by day and access level; you can visit the official Governors Ball website for current pricing and availability. Layaway plans are also available on all ticket types, starting at $25 down for a $319 3-Day GA ticket. Queens residents in zip codes 11368, 11355, 11375, and 11367 are eligible for a 15% discount. At this time, Saturday tickets are running low, and Friday GA is on the waitlist. We expect tiers to sell out ahead of the event. Don’t miss out and secure your tickets now!
