Will I See You At Imagine This Year?

This past weekend I went to all three nights of the Pretty Lights residency shows in Atlanta, finally seeing Derek spin up magic again after my one time seeing him perform at Firefly Music Festival in 2014. The whole vibe for the shows was contagious, making me yearn for more. Luckily, Imagine Music Festival is coming up in less than three weeks and will satisfy my craving for spectacular EDM. It will indeed take a whole festival to match the energy of a Pretty Lights show.

The lineup this year has some of the best in the business as headliners, including NGHTMRE B2B Diesel aka Shaq, Sofi Tukker, the debut of Subtronics B2b Ganja White Night, Big Gigantic, John Summit, Slander, Chris Lake, Dillon Francis, and Rezz. I’ve seen all of these artists previously, some as undercard acts, and was blown away by their sets then. They will definitely bring the heater to Imagine for a great weekend of dancing and shenanigans. The artist to see regarding headliners is Diesel. While his sets aren’t wildly over the top, Shaq’s energy at his shows and the moshpits that follow are a spectacle to witness. I saw him perform for easily 20,000 people at Bonnaroo this year at 2:30 AM on a Saturday, with constant shoutouts for moshpits the entire set. Even if you aren’t a moshpit kind of raver, you should still go see the biggest DJ in the world (beating Derek from Pretty Lights by only four inches).

As Imagine is a camping festival, you need to prepare for the heat. We have had one of the hottest summers in Georgia this year, with temperatures hitting close to 100 degrees. September traditionally cools off some, but I would expect temperatures in the high 80s during the festival. Additionally, hurricane season is afoot in the southern United States, so be on the lookout for rainstorm forecasts during the festival. I typically carry extra dollar ponchos on my person at festivals to share and encourage others to do the same. It could be the most valuable gift of the weekend for an unlucky, unprepared attendee.

I am very much looking forward to sending it at Imagine this year. It will be my 43rd festival following my 42nd one being Moon River the weekend prior. Tickets are still available at Imagine Music Festival’s website including day passes if you can’t make it for the whole weekend. The schedule should be released soon, so keep an eye out for the announcement. I hope you can make it out and dance with me at Kingston Downs!
