2024 LookBook – Part 2

This is the Look Book Part 2. Last week, I shared some of my favorite accessories from the rave fashion community. In this article, we will be checking out some clothing brands that stood out in 2024. Check out Part 1 HERE!

Every raver is unique, and so are their tastes. To establish themselves as a staple among ravers, brands must produce clothing that is versatile. The three brands I’ve chosen to talk about today are exactly that. They are high quality and creatively inspiring. Here are some of my favorite rave clothing brands from 2024.

Astral Vision Designs

Astral Vision Designs began when Alyssa started making braided clothing for her friends. Now, it is a well-established clothing brand that produces a wide range of customizable clothes for any taste. It takes time to get your hands on Astral Vision because every item from them is handmade with love by Alyssa and her fiance Mike. Their products occasionally become available for sale when their checkout opens for a short period. They accept a limited amount of orders at a time due to the time it takes to produce each batch. It can take anywhere between 3-12 months for your order to reach you. It takes patience to own one of their pieces.

Astral Vision has a wide range of designs for fans to choose from. Once their checkout opens, you are free to purchase the design of your choice as well as select your size and a pattern from their collection of fabrics. Although they provide a detailed size chart for their entire line, they also allow fans to submit their individual measurements to guarantee a perfect fit. Along with customized sizing, they also offer pattern customization for all of their items. Below is a small example of the patterns they offer, a very small example. The care they take to customize each item to its owner supports their vision of making their fans “feel like a walking piece of art”.

The Astral Vision line includes various clothing items of different styles. Although most of them retain their braided design, others are less intricate with solid colors and patterns.

Tops

Astral Vision makes various different tops ranging from t-shirts to braided tank tops. Some of my favorites are their braided long-sleeve tops.

Bottoms

Astral Vision offers different varieties of pants; leggings, bell bottoms, harem pants and cargo pants. They also have skirts and shorts, both of which also come with attached garters.

Warmers

Arm warmers need to make a strong comeback! And these elegant sleeves from Astral Vision are the cutest way to bring them back. Their leg warmers are also a nice addition to their line, especially paired with their gartered skirts.

One Piece

These are my favorite pieces from Astral Vision. They make many different one-piece garments ranging from bodysuits to overalls. However, my favorite is their bell-bottom jumpsuits with braiding on every possible surface. They also make various different dresses of different lengths and styles.

Sets

I enjoy the variety of pant sets Astral Vision offers. Elegant and beautiful pant sets aren’t very common. With endless pattern combinations, there is so much potential in these full-body pieces of art.

Outerwear

Astral Vision offers an impressive range of outerwear. They have their classic and cropped hoodies, and a line of kimonos with a couple buttons on the front and a baggy, luscious hood. But what I’m interested in are their dusters; floor length, flowy, and light-weight.

Elev808 Designs

Elev808 Designs began as a small business that flipped jerseys to support artists, and over the recent years it grew to be one of the industry leading merchandise companies. Now, 808 produces many varieties of limited edition merchandise and jerseys. You’ve most likely seen someone wearing one of their items. Elev808 Designs has also accumulated a Facebook group full of fans that keep these limited edition crafts in continuous circulation. All of these images have been shared by the fans from the Elev808 Collective Facebook group.

They also produce limited edition drops of unique designs inspired by pop culture characters and social media trends. From the Care Bears to Pokemon and Spirited Away, 808 designs jerseys that connect with individuals and express their characters.

Customizable Jerseys

Some of their jersey drops allow fans to customize the jersey number as well as the name plate; like the second image below that depicts “Girl You 8”.

They have released endless designs inspired by different themes, trends, and pop culture references.

Besides their range of designs that cater to various different tastes, 808 can be the perfect matching outfit for any group. They can be worn over anything to keep warm or they can be what makes your whole outfit.

One of the best things about 808 is that they are not only rave-wear. They can be worn casually in the normie world. If you want to meet fellow ravers in the wild, rock your 808 jersey into the world!

xTaintedThreadsx

Tainted Threads are one-of-a-kind, wearable pieces of art handmade by Diana and her mother. This mom and daughter duo creates some of the most beautiful garments I’ve had the pleasure of wearing. Their items become available for sale periodically. With an established and fanatic customer base, the new lines of bodysuits and two-piece garments they frequently drop are highly desired. These drops are competitive because of the relatively small quantity of available items. These garments are all completely handmade by 2 individuals with love and deep attention to detail that makes each piece completely unique, even from their very similar twins. The time it takes to create each garment is fixed, therefore the 1-2 month period between each drop creates a limited quantity of items. The occasional special drops they release can take even longer to complete.

The restricted quantity of garments they produce creates competition among their die-hard fans. But this competition has created an astonishing group of individuals who have formed a close-knit community that exists in almost every festival you can imagine. The Tainted Threads community also connects through Facebook groups made by a few of these fans. The TaintedThreads & VanishingFae Community Facebook group allows fans to post items they are in search of or that they are looking to sell. This is fairly regular when it comes to Facebook fashion groups. However, perhaps the most impressive aspect of this group is that much of their traffic occurs through permanent or temporary trades. Rave outfits are specially designed for the raves they will be worn to. This means a lot of garments and accessories stay home after being worn once; in a box with many others that probably won’t be worn again either. Recently, purchasing second-hand clothing has become more widely practiced through thrift stores and websites like Depop. But the trading that exists in the Tainted Threads group is especially unique. Once an individual wears their Tainted Threads they can trade it with another item of the same value and different style. This keeps these unique garments in rotation between fans who dream of wearing them and prevents the one-of-a-kind pieces from collecting dust in a closet. The trust in this close-knit community also allows temporary trades between fans across distances. They can share their garments with others from the group and trust that they will be returned to them. What’s amazing is that all of this occurs naturally among this group with no person of authority to organize or sustain its community. This community doesn’t only exist in cyberspace. For nearly every big festival, the community will arrange meetups among themselves. They coordinate a location and time to collect during the festival where they take group pictures and take their friendships to the next level. All of the images featured in this section have been shared by individuals from this group.

One of my favorite things about this brand is that they have something for everyone. Not only do they have a variety of styles that cater to distinct tastes, but they also have a diverse line of designs that are differently functional. However, the thing that makes Tainted Threads personally stand out to me is their truly inclusive range of sizes. When it comes to handmade clothing businesses, it’s unmistakable that larger bodies are frequently forgotten. But as a plus-size woman, I’ve never felt like a second thought when it comes to Tainted Threads. Each drop includes equal options, in quality and quantity, to their plus-size fans. Their sizes are accurately presented with consideration of each fabric’s stretch; whether it can stretch to fit between sizes or if they are not so interchangeable. Tainted Threads is inclusive of their fans and their tastes and it shows through the endless variety of styles they have produced over the years. The different fabrics that serve as the base of the garment are strong but light and breathable. The strings that shape the fabric and give it a unique braided pattern complement the theme of the garment. The flowing sleeves and special embroidery create an unlimited range of variety. All of these aspects come together to complete these creative and beautiful garments.

Sets

Fairly new to the Tainted Threads line, sets come in a range of combinations: cropped tops with flowing sleeves or sleeveless tops paired with shorts or bikini bottoms and a skirt.

Sleeveless

These bodysuits don’t have the signature flowing sleeves. But for some, the sleeves are not so desirable. Regardless of their beauty, sleeves aren’t so practical if they are to be worn under a jersey or jacket.

Playsuit

Another recent addition to the line; playsuits are not only a different style but they also offer more coverage to those who don’t vibe with the bikini cut of the original style.

Fairy

This was the single most desired style of Tainted Threads when I learned of its existence. A simple black bodysuit as a base with butterfly embroidery that matched the sleeves and details of the garment.

Patterned

Tainted Threads offers endless possible combinations of colors and patterns. Although the classic design of ba lack bodysuit with ethereal flowing sleeves is already perfect, the pattern and color combos allow the creative production of unique garments.

Mushroom

Mushrooms are a common appearance at raves. The Tainted Threads mushroom line is highly coveted. They come in many combinations; colorful bodysuits and 3-piece skirt sets.

Cow

Cow themed outfits have become very popular among ravers. Following this trend, Tainted Threads made a line of colorful cow bodysuits that have made their appearance in many festivals.

Seasonal

Some of my favorite pieces from Tainted Threads are special Halloween drops that are perfectly on theme with seasonal classics.

Other Styles

There are too many different styles of Tainted Threads to fit everything into categories. Here I showcase some of the most unique styles they have released. Ranging from leg-warmers, to shaggy sleeves, asymmetrical bodysuits, completely braided body and even tassled sleeves.

I received so many photos from the group that I had to include as many of them as I could. This is the beautiful Tainted Threads community that have created a whimsical world of their own.
