Guinness World Records: World’s Smallest Nightclub
Sydney twins set GUINNESS WORLD RECORDSâą title for Worldâs Smallest Mobile Nightclub
The world’s smallest nightclub is here: âDoof Shedâ is 1.53m x 0.74m x 1.88m (for you Americans this approximately is 5 ft x 2.4 ft x 6.2). The project is the brainchild of Australian twins Harry Nathan Labrakis and Evangelos âBoonieâ Labrakis. As a result, the shed has officially been crowned the worldâs âSmallest mobile nightclubâ by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS officials. Pretty neat, honestly!
Harry Nathan is recognized as a Sydney-based singer and producer. He works alongside twin brother Evangelos âBoonieâ Labrakis. The duo together has just offered a beacon of hope just as COVID dealt the final blow to the cityâs club scene. The brothers repurposed a corrugated metal shed and named it the âDoof Shedâ. Teamwork prevailed as the team turned it into a nightclub with a dancefloor that spans just 1.53m x 0.74m (5 ft x 2.4 ft). That’s quite the dance floor! I wonder how many people can fit in it! The Doof Shed is equipped with a Focal sound system, Pioneer DJ setup, intelligent lighting and a âFull Sendâ button, which activates a smoke machine, strobe, flashing lights and lasers to emulate the full-body, sensory club experience. Get ready for a private dance party!
About the Duo Who Created The World’s Smallest Nightclub
Harry Nathan is no stranger to the electronic music scene. In fact, over 100,000 monthly listeners have decided to give his tracks a spin! He specializes in electronic music and has recently signed to tastemaker labels Majestic Casual and KitsunĂ© Musique. He conceptualised the 1.5-meter club in order to provide one-on-one music experiences. But he didn’t complete this project alone! Harry worked with his father Evangelos Labrakis Sr. and twin brother Boonie, who is a fellow dance music enthusiast and aspiring music producer. This nightclub is a COVID-safe space AND it just so happened to fit within the parameters of setting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the Smallest mobile nightclub (a record previously held by âClub 28â in Rotherham, UK). What a great idea!
âDance music culture continues to experience setbacks worldwide, with music festivals and nightclubs closing or being cancelled at a rapid rate. The landscape has become very difficult for promoters to schedule future events, running the risk of having their events cancelled last minute due to COVID restrictions or sudden government lockdowns.â says Harry.
Sydney recently relaxed their COVID restrictions.
As a result, the twins decided to open up the experience and exhibit the miniature club to the general public for one day. To enter, people entered into a ballot system for an opportunity to experience the unique venue, with all proceeds going to mental health charities to aid those who have been affected by the pandemic. What a neat experience!
âI never plan my performances, each set is unique to the individual; I connect my consciousness to the energy that each audience member brings into the space. The performance is not the artwork; the artwork is an intersubjective experience.â says Harry.
Then we’ve got his twin brother, Boonie. His music style and approach to performance differs from his brotherâs. A car fanatic first and foremost, his forthcoming debut EP features real-life field recordings of his favourite cars:
âI love techno and I love cars, enough said. My DJ sets are pretty heavy, different to the downtempo or experimental stuff like my younger bro. Nightclubs for me are all about the doof, thatâs why I named it the âDoof Shedâ. When people enter the ballot they can choose whoâs show theyâd like to attend. You can bring your friends to my set too⊠our current record is 7 people!â says Boonie.
Visit doofshed.com and enter the ballot to experience âDoof Shedâ in your city.
