Artist Biography

Turnover is the Virginia Beach–formed indie rock band whose steady transformation from pop-punk roots into atmospheric dream-pop architects reflects a deliberate and technically nuanced evolution in modern alternative music. Founded in 2009 by vocalist-guitarist Austin Getz, the group initially emerged within the emo and pop-punk underground with releases like Magnolia (2013), before pivoting toward a more textural, introspective sound with the critically defining Peripheral Vision (2015), where shimmering guitars, reverb-laden production, and subdued vocal delivery reshaped their sonic identity. Subsequent albums—including Good Nature (2017), Altogether (2019), and Myself in the Way (2022)—expanded this palette through elements of jazz, synth-pop, and soft-rock, layering intricate guitar work with groove-focused rhythm sections and increasingly sophisticated studio techniques. Across lineup shifts and a decade of touring, Turnover has cultivated a sound grounded in tonal subtlety and dynamic restraint, translating their carefully constructed recordings into immersive live performances that emphasize atmosphere, precision, and emotional continuity—cementing their role as key innovators in the evolution of indie and alternative rock.
