Artist Biography

Daily Bread — the Atlanta‑based producer Rhett Whatley — is a sonic architect whose finely tuned fusion of electro‑soul, hip‑hop‑inflected bass music, and funk‑laced rhythmic design has made him one of the most nuanced beat‑makers rising out of the contemporary electronic underground. Whatley began crafting beats from his bedroom in 2014 armed with an MPC, an encyclopedic vinyl collection, and a jazz‑guitar foundation, quickly developing a production vocabulary that melds nostalgic soul samples, gritty hip‑hop hooks, and intricate bass textures into immersive, groove‑driven compositions that feel at once timeless and forward‑pushing. After releasing early projects like Cloud Conductor and the polished double LP On the Daily — and sharing stages with luminaries like Pretty Lights, GRiZ, The Floozies, and STS9 — Daily Bread became known not just for studio precision but for live sets that weave improvisational flourishes with structurally rich soundscapes, making his work as much a cerebral journey as a dancefloor experience. His catalog, anchored by projects like Navigator Standby and his Flash Flood mixtape series, reflects a meticulous control of dynamics, layering, and genre interplay that positions him at the intersection of soulful musicality and electronic innovation.
