Artist Biography

GRiZ—born Grant Kwiecinski in Southfield, Michigan—is a producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist whose hybrid approach to electronic music merges bass-driven production with live instrumentation, most notably his signature saxophone performances that thread funk and soul through contemporary festival electronics. Emerging from Michigan State University’s campus party circuit in the early 2010s, Kwiecinski gained momentum with his debut album End of the World Party (2011) and quickly carved out a distinctive “future funk” identity built on electro-soul grooves, glitch-hop rhythms, and improvisational horn lines layered over modern bass music architecture. Subsequent releases—including Mad Liberation, Say It Loud, and the chart-reaching Good Will Prevail—expanded his sonic palette through collaborations spanning hip-hop, funk, and electronic scenes while establishing his independent label All Good Records, a platform dedicated to genre-blending artists. Known for translating studio complexity into high-energy festival performances, GRiZ’s live shows integrate DJ mixing, saxophone solos, and tightly synchronized visual production, creating a technically dynamic experience that bridges analog musicianship and digital sound design while championing his long-standing ethos: “show love, spread love.”
