Enter Sceptre- Tormentor

Enter Sceptre – the solo project and brainchild of Cascina Caradonna – share their second single “Tormentor” (following the release of debut single “Majesty” in January 2023). About the release, Cascina says: “I started with the line, ‘you don’t know, where I go, my Tormentor’ as the melody came to me during a stale class one morning. I wrote verse after verse in my notebook, nodding my head every so often to assure the teacher I was in agreement with her lecture. Back at home that night I began crafting the beat, pads and lead line for the instrumental bit. The bulk of the song made me want to dance, and was so upbeat and happy. There had to be more pain. I crafted an intro out of violins, and pretty soon had two completely separate songs on my hands. Transitioning from one section to the other was a complete accident as the delay effect on my vocals was being modulated as the tempo rose. The feedback of it in the silence was so good that I kept it as it was, and enjoyed the journey the song presented itself as.

Ghost Love- Mourners Disco

“Mourners Disco was a pandemic album we wrote and produced via distance between 2020 and 2022. My mother passed away in 2019 and for me it was really the only thing I could do to deal with that grief and the isolation because of the pandemic that hit me like two trains coming from different directions. The album is a meditation on grief and despair that seeks to transcend these emotions through music and dancing away the pain. It was also a way for me to honour and remember my mothers life in a way that felt tangible and concrete. We really enjoyed mixing club oriented dark pop songs meant to be celebrated communally with more textural and experimental sonics. The attempt was to bring the listener to a place where it could be appreciated both in a very introverted and extroverted way. I have no idea if we succeeded but that was the intention anyways”. – David Rancourt (Ghost Love)

With daytime radio airplay, brand collaborations with the likes of Sample Genie and the worldwide tours which followed, it’s now his standalone offering ‘Dogma’ which will develop the next chapter for Simula.
