Artist Biography

MK, aka Marc Kinchen, is a house DJ that has been innovating the game since the late ’80s. Originally from Detroit, he developed a style that combines New York garage style with the energy of hard techno. He was a big influence for many house DJs over the years and shaped the entire U.K. garage scene. MK started back in 1989 with his track “First Bass” which was released via the KMS compilation Techno-1. Two years later he moved to Brooklyn where he continued to whip out club bangers including “Burning.” He signed to Charisma for an album deal, and they released his full-length debut in 1993 Surrender which had “Always” and “Love Changes,” two huge international deep house club hits. MK took a long break from house music that began in 1996. It wasn’t until the 2010s that he would emerge again as a star when he started working with stars like Will Smith and Pitbull. He dropped a remix of Storm Queen’s “Look Right Through” which topped the U.K. pop charts in 2013. From there, MK got his groove back with his new originals continuing to top the charts. He will make the Sunday at Bonnaroo one for the books.
