CRSSD Do’s and Dont’s + Who To Watch.
Before we begin, I want to preface that the Do’s and Dont’s on this list are cross referenced from the website for CRSSD. AND my own personal experiences. I do suggest taking a quick gander at the prohibited items list so that you don’t stand in line and get to security just for that one guy to say “you can’t bring that in”.
Now, onto the good part.
My two favorite genres of electronic music are being held at one of the most beautiful venues in San Diego: Waterfront Park. Our ocean on one side, and the city scene on the other. Not to mention that the balance of the ocean breeze and our famous California sun creates top-tier movin-and-groovin weather. Warm enough to not have to tie a jacket around your waist circa 2004 fashion, but cool enough to wear your hottest festival (not rave) attire. It’s that time of year folks, CRSSD is coming back this September 23rd and 24th!
Although only three stages, each stage has its own unique feeling and decor with beautiful views of the city landscape behind them. Ocean View, the Palms and City Steps will be housing some of the biggest names in house and techno to up-coming artists climbing up the popularity ladder. Waterfront Park also provides a complete space with picturesque sunset views, splash-friendly fountains, grassy green lawns, and mouth-watering food vendors to satisfy your every tastebud.
So, what can’t we do at this adult house and techno festival?!
I’ll keep it brief because I really want to fan-girl about an artist that everyone should make time for.
- NO rave attire. Save your kandi, pasties, micro-thongs and flow toys for Nocturnal Wonderland or another rave. Think of this festival like brunch with the girls, except with house and techno and many more strangers.
- NO camelbacks or any backpack with a bladder. You can, however, bring a clear acrylic or plastic water bottle to refill at the water stations. Do NOT bring your Hydro or Yeti as its literal metal and it does hurt when you get hit by one.
- DO NOT be that obnoxious party goer that goes into the water feature and splashes people who clearly don’t want to get wet.
- Dovetailing off #3, DO NOT pee or vomit in the water feature. It’s enjoyed by everyone that wants to cool down from the San Diego heat, but contaminating the water is not only rude, but straight up gross.
- DO NOT go bananas over artists you see out and about. Just like you, artists want to enjoy the festival they’re performing at. A couple of years ago, I ran into Anjunadeep artist Eric Luttrell, and he was more than appreciative that I treated him like a normal person.
Now that we have the CRSSD etiquette out of the way..
Lets talk about LP GIOBBI,
Wanting to change the statistic that only 2% of music producers are women, LP Giobbi is a DJ, producer, pianist and activist (we love a woman who’s involved) who is quickly rising to superstar status and on Spotify RADAR’s Artist to Watch. She has provided thousands of female and gender-expansive individuals access to production workshops, online courses, and scholarship programs for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC creators with her nonprofit FEMME HOUSE. LP has performed at high-profile festivals such as Coachella, EDC, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Tomorrowland, Electric Forest and Creamfields and has supported iconic artists like Fatboy Slim, Diplo, Mochakk, DJ Tennis, Dead & Co, and Sofi Tukker! As a die-hard house head, and a big supporter of women, LP Giobbi checks all the boxes and I cannot WAIT to see this magical woman perform live!
