EDC Las Vegas 2024 And It’s Growth!

One of the biggest West Coast festivals for electronic dance music, the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), was hosted for three days on the racetrack of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway on May 17-19th, 2024. EDC and other reputable festivals, Beyond Wonderland, HARD Summer, and more, were founded by Pasquale Rotella under the promoter name Insomniac. To this day, Rotella stays true to his intentions with the rave scene when he first began creating raves in the 90s, emphasizing keeping the EDM rave culture open to anyone.

“When I created Insomniac in 1993, the motivating force was always to bring together people from all walks of life… A place where art, music, love, and life can be celebrated without inhibitions or boundaries… to come as we are, and leave better than we came.”

Partnering his company, Insomniac, with Live Nation in 2013, continues to bring the necessary resources to host EDC Las Vegas bigger and better yearly. This EDC Las Vegas 2024 welcomed over 500,000 people throughout the three-day weekend and even has more funding to promote the event on freeway billboards in Las Vegas while securing 2025 dates (May 16-18th) before the 2024 weekend took place!

While Insomniac benefits from the money funded by Live Nation, the intentions behind raving and its message stay true. As attendees got closer to the venue from the freeway, there were messages that only those familiar with Insomniac and its message would understand, like “P.L.U.R 24-7/365.” Most EDC attendees would immediately understand it as peace, love, unity, and respect 24/7 365 (meaning these values never leave a raver even when they aren’t on festival grounds).

Without a doubt, those who have attended Insomniac events have seen an influx of attendees, with a special note of this increase because of the social media platform TikTok. There is a multitude of ravers who have used TikTok to create relatable videos, while others who create EDM have used it to promote their new releases.

More name-recognized artists like Subtronics and Excision have gone from getting 12,000 likes on TikTok to reaching half a million likes on song snippets from their live sets. The platform’s growth has allowed the rave scene to connect ravers not only in the venue but outside of it, too. Cars have Insomniac license plate covers and individual sports of festival-focused merchandise that are easily spottable to familiar eyes.

Undoubtedly, the rave scene will continue to grow from word of mouth and with help from social media. The next West Coast festival that Insomniac will host will be Hard Summer in Los Angeles, California. More to come soon for that festival!
