Governors Ball Will Kickoff Your Summer Right!

Let’s kickoff summer right! After celebrating its 10 year anniversary this past fall, Governors Ball has finally announced its 2022 lineup. The festival is set for June 10th to June 12th in Queens at the Citi Field Complex, a newer location for the festival but one that was well-received last year for the rescheduled fall dates. Additionally, as Firefly Music Festival has moved to a fall date for 2022, Governors Ball is taking the spotlight as a major summer festival for the northeastern United States. The spotlight is well deserved as the festival beckons music lovers to the Big Apple to signal the possible start to the aftertimes of the pandemic, the very place where two years ago an event like this was just a dream.

The headliners for this year’s Governors Ball are making waves across multiple festival lineups but have a special significance being on this New York festival lineup. J. Cole moved to New York to work towards his music career and attended St. Johns University in Queens where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2007. Both Kid Cudi and Halsey launched their multi-platinum careers from New York. All three of these artists will get to headline in the city where they found themselves, which will definitely make their sets hit harder. I’m especially excited to see Kid Cudi as the last time I saw him was at Firefly 2015 where his set got cut short by the infamous hurricane.

All weekend long festival family can get some of the best eats around with vendors such as Roberta’s Pizza, Big Mozz, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, Sweet Chick, No Good Burger Joint, La Newyorkina, milk & cream cereal bar, Takumi Taco, and many more will share the limelight with special collaborations including Frites Artois, a partnership with Stella Artois and celebrated chef Roy Choi, pairing Stella with pomme frites with a simple yet elevated twist. A full list of food & beverage options for the 2022 festival can be found at GovBall.com/Food. In addition, Dunkin’ and MorningStar Farms will be on site sharing some of the best free samples around. MorningStar Farms is proud to make it tasty and easy to eat plant based!

You have got to refuel your body properly with water. The festival is ready to meet that need by supplying multiple free water stations throughout the grounds. Plus, there will be plenty of options on hand for ice cold drinks or libation. Music lovers can cool off with a Matcha lemonade from MatchaBar, or a fresh pressed offering from John’s Juice. Not to mention selections from JuneShine Hard Kombucha, Summer Water Rosé, and our loudest beer lineup yet! Bud Light and Bud Light Seltzer will be joined by up-and-coming Seltzer POPsicle sensations and Hard Soda along with a great selection of craft beers including Goose Island Beer Hug, Kona Big Wave, and our exclusive, custom-edition Governors Ball Summer Ale from our friends at Blue Point. Stella Artois will lean into its Belgian heritage with “Frites Artois.” Developed in collaboration with Chef Roy Choi, “Frites Artois,” turns the classic french fry into pomme frites with a simple yet elevated twist. The special collaboration will be available in tandem with a cold can of Stella.

Cocktail fans will have plenty to be excited about as well. BACARDÍ will delight with their tropical Gov Ball Punch, while the bright and bubbly Aperol Spritz serves up refreshment. Patrón’s light and classic Perfect Paloma features Patrón Reposado alongside refreshing grapefruit and sparkling water, and on a summer day you can’t go wrong with Tito’s Vodka’s Tito’s Sparkling Lemonade. D’USSÉ cognac will be on hand with the D’USSÉ So Myself, a bold but balanced blend with pineapple and cranberry, and Gray Whale Gin will please the taste buds with the Whale Hello There, featuring fresh squeezed lemon juice, lime and agave to round out a cocktail program that surely has something for everyone.

Tickets are already on sale for Governors Ball. GA and VIP tickets will be available for purchase. You have the option of full sending it for all three days or just snagging a single-day ticket. Additionally, make sure you look at booking a place to stay since this is a city festival without the option to camp. You will definitely need somewhere to rest your head after raging each day.

As a reminder, and something that will apply to all festivals for 2022, make sure you are aware of any new covid-related requirements for travel and for staying in New York. Currently, the same rule from last year where either a vax card or negative test seems to be the standard for 2022 festivals. I am looking forward to sharing a slice of tasty tunes and poppin’ pizza with y’all at Governor’s Ball! Let’s kickoff summer right!
