The EDM scene has seriously changed my life so much. As I speculate on the last 8 years of concerts I’ve attended, I see how much has changed in my life.
For starters, I was in a pretty bad place emotionally before these concerts. I wasn’t happy with the way things were going at all. In addition, I didn’t have a solid group of friends at my college. I had my friends from my hometown, but I couldn’t see them all the time. Now, I’m not even friends with most of that original crew. It saddens me to say that, but at the same time, I know I’ve grown from it and found a solid group of friends that actually has my back.
When I look at nearly every person I hang out with anymore, they are all from the concert scene in some way. That’s awesome. This group actually has my back when push comes to shove. I know I can actually count on this group of people, unlike some of my past friendships. I used to hang out with some pretty terrible people who weren’t healthy for me at all.
After I started going to these concerts, I started to believe in myself. I looked forward to these events and I was expressing myself through fun outfits I created. At that time, my self-esteem was terrible but when I went to a concert, I just felt free. Everyone would compliment me and it made my confidence soar. I enjoyed making the outfits. And I LOVED trading the kandi. I made so many friends that I still talk to this day because of these concerts.
To be honest, I know this scene has changed my life for the better, I’m sure of it. I can’t wait to grow more with this scene over time. To all my readers, thank you. You are amazing. This scene embodies respect, love, and acceptance. PLUR, peace, love, unity, and respect truly unites us all.
