Trance Wax- Eve 808 State Remix

Formed in 1987, 808 State take its name from the Roland TR-808 drum machine. 808 State was an instrumental part of the Madchester cultural movement of the late ’80s, alongside New Order, The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and The Charlatans. Today, their influence on dance music remains strong as ever.
 
Trance Wax is an alias of Belfast-born producer Garry McCartney, also known as Ejeca. Celebrating the music he fell in love with as a teenager, his Trance Wax project began as an anonymous series of vinyl-only bootlegs back in 2015. Garry’s lovingly crafted edits of classics from Yves Deyurter, BT, and Mauro Picotto became peak-time anthems for Bicep, Nina Kraviz, Denis Sulta, The Blessed Madonna, and Job Jobse to name a few. A BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix followed soon after.

We last heard from Yawdel via the grand ‘Ghost Modwheel’, a musical marvel of such beauty not only did we have to claim it for Circus, but the message was also received by our friends at Mr. Suicide Sheep who helped to amplify the sound worldwide.
 
As we decode the information, the rousing ‘Fire and Thunder’ featuring the spectacular voice of Elliot Chapman Enters our minds. The aforementioned ‘Ghost Modwheel’ (Yawdel’s debut on Circus) kicks us into hyperdrive as ‘My Own’ featuring Justo the MC keeps the cruise steady and strong. This track drops us out of warp speed as we slowly approach our planetary destination with the anthemic ‘I Follow Rivers’ featuring SUN, a cover of the huge hit by Swedish artist Lykke Li. Said cover is sung by SUN (a veteran of bands, musicals, and experimental music), the versatile songstress joins Yawdel off the back of her ‘Brutal Pop’ LP and is soon to appear in a leading role in a film at Cannes 2021!

Powering towards the emerging indie elite amidst an explosive slacker-pop ascent, UK artist Lauran Hibberd shares the music video for her ambitious new effort “Bleugh,” the latest reveal from the musician’s forthcoming Goober EP out Friday, July 30 (pre-order). Produced by Suzy Shinn (Weezer, Panic! At The Disco, YAK), “Bleugh” splices together English spoken word, Hibberd’s trademark vocal and a Weezer-esque anthem that details the attempt to break a toxic cycle. Following the success of Miss Me, his collaboration with NUZB in March, MALARKEY wanted to bring another vibey, futuristic sounding banger to everyone for his first solo release on STMPD RCRDS. ‘Top Floor’ has hints of R&B influences in the breaks, with a really smooth vocal, but still brings MALARKEY’s signature sound in the drop. The inspiration behind the track was to create something that was quite visual, especially with the lyrics. MALARKEY: ‘’Inspiration wise, this was definitely a track that I definitely wanted to put my stamp on, but also make something that was quite visual. The lyrical content of Top Floor evoked a lot visually for me, so I wanted to have that gracefulness matched in the breaks too. Definitely one of my favourite tracks I’ve made this year for sure!’’
