The goal is to make them feel uplifted and create an upbeat summer anthem reminiscent of every beautiful sunset.
Following up on last year’s EP BLOOM, electronic pop artist Hien shares a music video for her track “Family.” BLOOM captures Hien’s creative journey of rebuilding her identity as an artist and navigating life as a millenial Vietnamese immigrant, who moved from Hungary to the US for a new beginning.
Jude Flannery- Quiet by your side
Quiet by your side is Philadelphia-based artist Jude Flannery’s solo debut. The album explores the themes of connection and expectation. Joined by primary collaborators Matt Barrick (The Walkmen, Muzz) on drums / percussion and Quentin Stoltzfus (Mazarin, Light Heat) on bass and guitar, the record has a psychedelic folk rock vibe. Additional collaborators include Robbie Bennett (The War on Drugs) on keyboards, Keir Neuringer (The Irreversible Entanglements) on saxophone, Zena Kay on pedal steel, and Annie Nero on backing vocals. The overall mix is warm and dynamic, a credit to the craft and production contributions of Barrick, who recorded and mixed the record, and Stoltzfus, who mastered the record at Philadelphia’s Silent Partner recording studio.

Following their massive collaboration with ATB on the BRIT-nominated track “Your Love (9PM),” which has amassed over one billion combined global streams, German-Croatian producer Topic and Swedish singer/songwriter A7S revisit another all-time dance classic on their powerful follow-up single – “A Better Day.” “A Better Day” is based on the iconic melody from Zombie Nation’s 1999 smash “Kernkraft 400” – itself a rework of a theme tune from a 1984 computer game. It’s a riff that can still be heard in sports stadiums around the world, but Topic and A7S have flipped it with surprising results.
Rain Radio- He Goes Down
Rain Radio continue their hot streak with brand-new single “He Goes Down.” Centering around the sultriest of Nicole Scherzinger samples (“Right There”), “He Goes Down” sees Rain Radio tap into a raw, vocal-driven club with a vibrant slap house bassline. Mike Dunn feat. LOA- When The Dust Clears
With a career spanning over three decades, Mike Dunn has been responsible for some of house music’s best-loved records. Now, the Chicago don has done it again, delivering ‘When The Dust Clears’ on Defected. Following his array of solo works across the label and timeless releases like ‘Natural High’ on Glitterbox and ‘It’s A Groove Thang’ on Big Love, Mike’s winning formula of uniting hip hop textures with house compositions, tied nicely together by his signature Windy City drawl makes him an eternal fan favorite. Alongside Brighton-based songstress LOA., an artist whose love for collaboration ensures there is always new music on the way, Mike Dunn marries his voice, full of sensual braggadocio, with the soulful, gritty topline of LOA.. Where these boom out over the beat, raw drums crash underneath a looping piano hook and add yet another record to the everlasting catalog of Mike Dunn’s finest moments.

On the song The North Country’s Austin Blanton (vocals, bass) says, “This song was written in the depths of lockdown as a reflection of the feeling of social and ecological collapse. There had been a lot of hand-wringing about going outside and staying inside, and that dichotomy presented itself as an interesting crux for the song.”
Alice Merton- S.I.D.E.S
Alice Merton releases her second album S.I.D.E.S. which features the new focus track “The Other Side.” This album campaign has seen Alice raise the bar from what she achieved with her debut album Mint (billion+ streams, Top 10 chart positions across Europe, becoming a judge on The Voice of Germany) with some of her biggest moments in fresh territories, including a US tour with Bastille, a career-defining orchestral concert of her biggest songs with the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, and being named as Jo Whiley’s Infatuation on Radio 2.
