Artist Biography

The Beths are an indie rock outfit from New Zealand. Elizabeth Stokes, their main songwriter and guitarist, went to high school with Jonathan Pearce, their other guitarist. The duo later met Benjamin Sinclair, their bassist, and Ivan Luketina-Johnston, their drummer, while all four were studying jazz at the University of Auckland. The Beths were birthed from practice sessions and the nostalgia of punk-pop. The band self-released their debut EP in 2016 titled Warm Blood. The band built a strong reputation for their killer live shows which got the attention of Carpark Records who reissued this EP to an international audience in 2018. The same year the label also released the Beths’ full-length debut Future Me Hates Me. The band got the attention of indie giants Death Cab for Cutie, the Breeders, and the Pixies who all booked the Beths to open their respective tours. Tristan Deck then replaced their former drummer to fill out the current lineup. The Beths then had many successful releases despite the pandemic and now wish to bring their vibes to the Farm.
