Artist Biography

Peekaboo, aka Matthew Lucas, is a Los Angeles-based EDM DJ that crafts bass and dubstep tracks that blend elements of jungle, rave, trance, trap, and various other styles. This style is often called free-form or space bass. Peekaboo was born in Michigan to a father who played trumpet in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. He learned to play trumpet, following his father, and guitar before he fell in love with EDM in high school. He fooled around with various styles before settling on dubstep. Peekaboo went to Western Michigan University with the intention of being an engineer for horror films. He released his first EP in 2017 titled Revenge and decided to relocate to LA to focus on build a music career. Bassnectar played the track “Wobbly” off this EP which put Peekaboo on the map. Liquid Stranger’s Wakaan label released his second EP Imposters and Maniac in 2018. After working with Ganja White Night and Rezz on North American tours, Peekaboo saw his success with his 2019 EP Wrecking Ball which landed at number 10 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart. Peekaboo has become a staple in the bass community and will see a warm welcome at Roo!
