Artist Biography

San Holo—the moniker of Dutch producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist Sander van Dijck—has emerged as a defining architect of emotionally driven electronic music, bridging the gap between future bass, ambient textures, and indie songwriting through a deeply personal, instrument-forward approach to production. Born in Zoetermeer and formally trained in music production and guitar at Codarts University, van Dijck transitioned from early band work and ghost production into a solo project that gained global traction with his 2014 remix of Dr. Dre’s “The Next Episode,” followed by the breakout single “Light,” which charted on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic rankings . His debut album album1 (2018) marked a pivotal shift toward blending electronic structure with live instrumentation—guitars, vocals, and analog textures—while subsequent releases like BB U OK? (2021) and Existential Dance Music (2023) expanded his sonic palette into introspective, genre-fluid compositions . As the founder of the independent label bitbird, San Holo has also cultivated a creative ecosystem centered on melodic experimentation and artist development, while his live performances translate studio precision into immersive experiences that fuse DJ performance with live guitar, emphasizing emotional resonance as much as technical execution within the evolving landscape of electronic music.
