Artist Biography
Harrison Patrick Smith — better known as The Dare — is the brash, restless force of New York’s indie sleaze revival, a musician and producer whose frenetic blend of dance‑punk, electroclash, and late‑90s/early‑2000s club energy feels like a warped love letter to the era’s coolest nocturnal collisions. Raised in California and reinvented in Brooklyn’s downtown nightlife, he shed his earlier indie project Turtlenecked to become The Dare, unleashing the viral anthem “Girls” in 2022 and turning heads with its raw party fervor and cheeky irreverence; that breakthrough led to a major‑label deal and the debut album What’s Wrong with New York?, a record that channels late‑night hedonism with pulsating beats and playful bravado. With a persona that straddles provocative satire and genuine musical enthusiasm, The Dare has carved out a singular space where punk attitude meets dancefloor abandon, making him one of the most electrifying and unpredictable acts on modern stages.
