Aevion – The Serpent
Aevion wanted to create a club record filled with melodic techno elements and retro synths and the outcome is ‘The Serpent’.
Alewya- Let Go
After releasing her highly praised bold debut EP, Panther in Mode, Alewya returns with the latest dazzling weapon in her arsenal: the new single and video for “Let Go.” Brimming with ancestral drums and raspy melodies, “Let Go” marks a new phase for her, one that through a time of mental agony and confusion revealed a newfound personal freedom and confidence.
Alexis Castrogiovanni- Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like A Range Of Mountains
Alexis Castrogiovanni’s pared-down, emotional musical landscapes employ genres from classical and folk to trip-hop and punk. Trained as a cellist, a lifetime of conservatory training emboldened her to interweave the expected with the unexpected, the structural with the improvisatory, inhabiting the limbo between singer-songwriter and classical musician. In her music, you can hear echoes of Arcade Fire saxophonist Colin Stetson, with her voice and writing sitting in comfortable companionship with singer-songwriters like Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, and Mitski—other classically trained musicians who dare to subvert genre. Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like a Range of Mountains is an EP reflecting on the four years of musical exploration that followed the end of Alexis’ formal classical training. In this time, Alexis taught herself songwriting, nurturing a long-held love of poetry that had few outlets in her cello studies. Her lyrics are part poetry, part self-philosophy, as she gives a window into her searches for meaning, and slowly learning to love. As her debut EP, Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like a Range of Mountains features some of the industry’s premier audio talents: Polaris Prize winner Jon Kaspy (Jeremy Dutcher) as recording engineer, with mixing by Grammy winner Mark Lawson (Arcade Fire), and Mastering by Harris Newman (Wolf Parade, A Silver Mt. Zion). The music video for the title track, Someday My Thoughts Will Be Like a Range of Mountains, was directed by Millefiore Clarkes (National Film Board of Canada).

Turning Blind ft. Jacob Drescher – the brand new single from German producer, multi-instrumentalist and live act, BONDI, is out now via his newly launched imprint JUNA POLY.
The first official single to be lifted from his forthcoming debut album, Space Logic, BONDI’s opening single Turning Blind – recorded in collaboration with Amsterdam-based songwriter Jacob Drescher – tells a tale of emancipation and soul-healing let-go, wistful and forward moving all at once. A slow burning folk ballad laced with hints of introspective deep house, Turning Blind reels out like a dreamy sequence off a motel-to-motel hopping road trip, in quest for sense in a world that seems to sink deeper and deeper into virtual quicksand.
Buick Audra- Conversations with My Other Voice
Nashville-based singer-songwriter and Grammy-award-winner Buick Audra is excited for the release of her new album Conversations with My Other Voice and corresponding essay collection out today (order). Over the album’s 10 introspective tracks Buick Audra asks the questions, “Have you ever wondered what you would say to a younger version of yourself? Which stories you might update if given the chance?”
Catholic School- Needle in the Storm
After undergoing many musical shapes and forms over the decades, West Tennessee multi-instrumentalist John Christie started making solo material in 2019. These songs caught the ear of other better known artists, one of which urged him to come up with a new name for his project. Christie Chose Catholic School as a new moniker and took to the studio in 2020, reaching deep into his past as a recovering drug addict, he constructed a debut EP built on the memory of lost loved ones, incarceration and undying friendship. With the help of local Memphis artist Ben Ricketts the album was completed over a year later and was released on Cercle Social Records, a label run by 2020 artists Soft Kill. The current lineup of Catholic School includes John Christie, Corbin Limebarrier (drums), Jerry Leek (bass), Andrew McDougal (synths) and Kip Uhlhorn (guitar). The new single is out on the band’s own label, Maudlin Jerk.

“‘Flowers on Fire’ was basically done in a few hours, after several shots of mezcal and a flurry of musical ideas ping-pong,” said Shallman. “My co-writers for this song, Jeremy Ruzumna and Erik Janson, are both out of their minds in the best way possible. Musical geniuses and huge goofballs. We had a blast. Lyrically, ‘Flowers on Fire’ is about passion and tension, suspense and release. It’s also sort of a challenge, a ‘your move,’ kind of song. Like, the ball’s in your court— so what’re you going to do about it?
Oberst & Buchner- Marble Arch
Marble Arch – the breathtaking new album from Vienna and Berlin-based production outfit Oberst & Buchner is out now via Heimlich Musik.
‘Hawkins Square,’ pays homage to Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers’ Netflix smash. Produced in tandem with Paul’s longtime friend, studio mate, and VANDIT Records artist, Alex M.O.R.P.H., ‘Hawkins Square’ is driving and dark; a bath of progressive house and squelching 303s that’s a nod to the show’s mysterious storyline.
Peel Dream Magazine- Pad
With his third album as Peel Dream Magazine, Joseph Stevens beckons you toward a fabulist, zig-zag world entirely of his own design. On Pad (out Oct. 7 on Slumberland / Tough Love), he eschews the fuzzy glories of his indie pop past – vibraphone trembles while chamber strings take center stage. The curtains lift to reveal banjo. Chimes. Farfisa. And as he lets out a moan atop the album’s title track, it becomes clear that this is no ordinary performance. A conceptual work about losing oneself when all they have is themself, Pad gestures towards an exciting new future for Stevens’ pop moniker by reimagining its own very existence.
Peter Matthew Bauer- Flowers
Peter Matthew Bauer releases his brand new third album, Flowers (out now via Fortune Tellers), along with the focus track and thematic centerpiece, “Chiyoda, Arkansas, Manila.” The final single is described as an abstract portrait of anti-cult researchers Bauer met online, drawing on one in particular’s experience and reactions in the abstract. Set against a wall of arp synthesizers, electric guitars, and Matt Barrick smashing the drums, the song ends with a sound that’s something like a good U2 song being drowned underwater.

Puppy Angst- In Sensitivity
““In Sensitivity” is a super upbeat song about working towards happiness despite struggling with mental health. The song is filled with dreamy, nostalgic guitar tones that get swallowed up by fuzz, wacky vocal processing, a melodic bassline, simultaneous guitar and synth solos… the hook and instrumentation are really fun, despite the lyrics maybe not being the happiest. In sensitivity, there is strength!” -Alyssa Milman

Louisville, KY singer-songwriter Wesley (the alias of Jacob Weaver) recently announced a brand new LP entitled Glows in the Dark (due November 11 via Earth Libraries).
Today, Weaver shares its second single, “Twins in the Wind,” alongside an accompanying video. He wrote the song as a way of exploring the dual identities of childhood and adulthood, the wobbly synth flooding into the immaculately arranged acoustic tune like the misty demarcation between the two halves of life. “Over hills and out to the sea/ Would you walk there with me?/ Don’t you know that we’ll forever be/ Just twins in the wind?” Weaver wonders to himself, as Nick Roeder’s drums push the musical river apace.
