The Festival Voice Presents Isaac Palmer Live At North Coast!

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to interview Isaac Palmer at North Coast. Check out everything he’s up to!

Here’s a copy of that video for ya!

S: Hey it’s Savannah with The Festival Voice and I’m live at North Coast with Isaac Palmer, who played yesterday. So tell me, how was your set?

I: My set was wonderful. I played the Vega Stage. I played quite early and I played 80% of my own music and that was a first for me. Super sick. And then I had a surprise guest set at the main stage today.

S: Oh, I didn’t know about that! That’s so cool!

I: It was a surprise, I played with my buddy Sherm, he killed it, what a legend.

S: Yeah, we interviewed him last year actually, at North Coast!

I: Yeah, he’s my best friend, I’ve known him for six to seven years. But yeah, super crazy! Super sick. I loved every second of it.

S: So you said you’re friends with Sherm. Does that mean you’re from the Chicago area?

I: I’m from Northern Indiana. Like the South Bend area. Like 90 minutes away.

S: So not too far.

I: I’m not a native Chicagoan but I’m close enough.

S: So tell me a little bit. You did your set yesterday. I know festival season is kind of winding down What’s coming next for you in regards to tours, festivals, new music?

I: Yeah, we’re trying to figure out the next shows. But as of now, I’m working a lot with production like as a writer and a producer. We’re on Billboard right now in the top 30 in US Dance Radio. I did this record with Dzeko and Menew. It’s called ‘Never Us.’ I believe we’re top 30 on Billboard Top Music Radio Airplay. And that’s pretty sick. So I’ve been doing a lot more with me as a songwriter and a producer. And artist stuff- I’ve got a ton of releases lined up. Yeah, gonna keep crushing it and pounding it out.

S: Can you give us any spoilers? I know that sometimes you can’t but can you give us any spoilers?

I: So there’s a few that are bigger and I can’t say but I do have a few like the one with Bok Nero and Riot Ten.

S: That’s going to be cool.

I: Yeah, he’s a super good friend of mine. He’s from Las Vegas. And yeah, I have a few with a lot of European based DJs. And yeah, I’m trying to hold it close until it comes out. You know?

S: I totally understand and I also know you can’t always share the spoilers. So you said you’re from Indiana. Can you tell us anything about what it was like growing up there? What inspired you to become a DJ? That kind of thing.

I: So there’s not a lot going on in Indiana, that’s for sure. There’s a lot of cornfields and very small towns. But I discovered Calvin Harris when I was like 16- no 14, it was younger. Then I was like- how can I do what he does? I tried to achieve what he is doing. Which, I mean, Calvin Harris is an ultimate legend. I don’t know if I’ll ever be on his level but he’s the one who inspired me to do what I am doing. Yeah, it’s amazing.

S: So do you have a specific song or album? Or is it just Calvin Harris as a whole?

I: Yeah so he had an album called Motion, I think it was 2014. It was either 2014 or 2015 when that came out. And that was the album where I was like, okay, I want to make dance music. I want to be a producer. I want to make music and that was the whole beginning of it.

S: Yeah, so where do you play most frequently? You said not a lot goes on in Indiana so do you come to Chicago a lot? Or Indianapolis?

I: Yeah, yeah, yeah, so I do a lot of Chicago shows but this summer because of my health I kind of took off a bit from touring just because it was a lot. For the last 3 years I’ve been touring in Europe, which has been super fun. I took it off this year because you know, it kills your body. As much as it is fun.. it is, you know…

S: It’s a lot.

I: It just drains your body. And yeah, I’ve really just been grinding it out in the studio, 80 hours a week, putting out a lot of new music. Yeah, it’s very exciting!

S: Yeah, that sounds very exciting! So before we end, I know we like to keep it short and sweet when we’re actually at a festival because I know you have places to be, do you have anything else you want to tell us?

I: Stay tuned. I’m so excited for the future. I’m gassed to be in Chicago. I’m gassed to play North Coast again, it’s my second time. I played the first time in 2016 so it’s amazing to be back after so many years. And yeah, I hope you guys have a great time as well here!

S: Yeah, that’s awesome! So thank you for watching, we’ll keep you posted on what it happening with Isaac Palmer!

I: Peace!
