Artist Biography
ROLE MODEL, the stage persona of Maine-born singer-songwriter Tucker Pillsbury, has emerged as a defining voice in the modern indie-pop landscape by transforming bedroom-recorded beginnings into polished, emotionally resonant songwriting that bridges introspective lyricism and clean pop architecture. Originally pursuing film studies before discovering music production in his dorm room, Pillsbury began releasing self-produced material online in the mid-2010s, eventually shifting from rap experiments to melodic indie pop and gaining traction with the self-released EP Arizona in the Summer in 2017. That momentum led to a deal with Interscope Records and a steady progression of releases—including the EPs Oh, How Perfect (2019) and Our Little Angel (2020), followed by his debut album Rx (2022)—each refining a sound built around understated vocals, guitar-driven arrangements, and diaristic storytelling. His sophomore album Kansas Anymore (2024) expanded the project’s sonic palette with folk-tinged instrumentation and broader narrative songwriting, reflecting a maturation in both production and emotional scope while maintaining the candid vulnerability that defines his work. On stage, ROLE MODEL translates these carefully constructed recordings into dynamic festival performances that balance indie pop polish with the confessional immediacy of singer-songwriter tradition, positioning him as a rising architect of Gen-Z pop storytelling.
