Artist Biography
Spacey Jane is the Fremantle, Western Australia–born indie rock quartet whose rise from college-era DIY beginnings to one of Australia’s most dominant modern guitar bands reflects a carefully honed balance between emotional songwriting and tightly structured indie rock composition. Formed in 2016 by vocalist-guitarist Caleb Harper, guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu, and drummer Kieran Lama, later joined by bassist Peppa Lane, the band initially leaned into garage rock textures before refining a brighter, hook-driven indie sound across early EPs and their breakthrough debut Sunlight (2020), which peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA charts and featured the multi-platinum single “Booster Seat.” Building on that momentum, Here Comes Everybody (2022) and If That Makes Sense (2025) expanded their sonic architecture with cleaner production, layered guitar interplay, and rhythmically precise arrangements that emphasize melodic immediacy without sacrificing lyrical depth. Technically defined by jangling guitar tones, dynamic pacing, and Harper’s introspective vocal delivery, Spacey Jane translates carefully constructed studio work into expansive live performances, positioning themselves as a leading force in contemporary indie rock’s ongoing evolution.
