Artist Biography

Del Water Gap is the indie‑pop solo project of Brooklyn‑based singer‑songwriter and producer Samuel Holden Jaffe, whose meticulous fusion of introspective lyricism, layered production, and genre‑fluid sonic textures has turned intimate personal narratives into resonant festival‑ready soundscapes. Originating as a college‑era endeavor inspired by the handwritten sighting of Delaware Water Gap, Jaffe took the project fully solo after early band iterations and moved from gentle folk inflections toward a sophisticated indie‑pop aesthetic marked by shimmering synths, warm guitar lines, and finely tuned rhythmic arrangements that elevate vulnerability into communal experience. Breakthrough singles like “Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat,” which achieved RIAA Gold status, spotlight his deft balance of emotional transparency and production precision, while full‑length albums such as Del Water Gap (2021), I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet (2023), and Chasing the Chimera (2025) showcase his evolution across nearly 40 studio sessions with collaborators such as Gabe Goodman and Jonathan Wilson, weaving collaborative textures with his own introspective voice into a cohesive, technically rich body of work that feels both deeply personal and expansively cinematic.
