Anjunadeep Visited Seattle And…
Seattle is one of those cities that doesn’t always get a stop on a DJ’s tour, but when we get
something, it’s usually pretty incredible. On Saturday, August 24th, Anjunadeep (a London-based
record label founded by Above & Beyond) took over Seattle’s Gas Works Park on Lake Union in
one of only a few Anjunadeep Open Air events taking place this year. The day started off
smooth, with good weather and great music, but later turned into a medium-sprinkling of rain
and amazing music. Luckily with this event being in Seattle, we are no strangers to rain, and it
was embraced with open arms and smiling faces. Seriously, it didn’t appear as though anybody
had a less-than-great time. I’m not sure if it was the event itself, or a kind stranger, but there
were hundreds of ponchos being passed around throughout the crowd, which was especially
useful for those of us who like to wear our cute little rave outfits when we go to these types of
events. We don’t get too many opportunities to dress up in our best rave gear out here. So,
thank the rave gods for whoever had the foresight to be so helpful and amazing! It was amusing
to see the crowd full of vibrant colors bopping around and shuffling in the grass, full of smiles
and happy vibes, even in the gloomy outdoors.
Musical support from Nicky Elisabeth, Qrion, Nils Hoffmann, Marsh, and an Eli&Fur b2b YOTTO
set kept the crowd moving and vibes were never dull. If I HAD to choose a favorite set, I
genuinely could not stop dancing during Marsh’s set and I think the crowd was on the same
page. The music was exactly what my ears had been craving lately. That, coupled with a sunset
on the water, and the Seattle skyline in view was just, a chef’s kiss. My only qualm was that it
was only a 6 hour event. Beginning at 3pm and finishing up at 9pm, I wanted MORE! Luckily,
there was an official Anjunadeep afterparty hosted at Substation from 10pm to 2am for the folks
who like to keep the party going into the later hours of the night. Tickets were tricky to get, so if
you know you’re one of these people, be sure to get them early!
If you’re feeling the FOMO on this one, have no fear – Anjunadeep is hosting more Open Air
events in the United States this November (See: Anjunadeep Open Air San Diego, Anjunadeep
Open Air Red Rocks). Or, there are several events located in Europe, Mexico, and South Africa, if
you’re one of those dedicated ravers who like to travel the world seeking out new musical
curated experiences.
