Artist Biography

Claud Mintz, who goes by Claud, is the Brooklyn-based indie synth-pop singer/songwriter. Claud grew up outside Chicago and started playing guitar and singing during middle and high school. When they went to Syracuse University in 2017, they met Josh Mehling and formed the dream-pop duo Toast with their first EP being recorded in a dorm room. Releasing this EP under Terrible Records got the duo lots of opening slots around the U.S where they built a fan base with many of them from the LGBTQ+ community. Claud then left Syracuse to pursue their own career and flourished in the queer scene of New York City. Claud toured with the Neighborhood, Bleachers, Girlpool, and Hatchie before getting signed with Phoebe Bridgers’ label Saddest Factory in 2020. In 2021, Saddest Factory issued Claud’s first album, Super Monster, which was recorded at Electric Lady Studios with Mehling co-producing.
