Global Dance In The Mile High City

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of checking out Global Dance Festival in Denver. And it was a BLAST! The first day was a little chaotic for me because I had some car trouble. My trip there was supposed to be 12 hours long and of course, my car acted up. So day 1, I was a little unsure about how we were getting there. I didn’t want to risk my car stalling in that crazy Denver traffic. I could have gotten an Uber but it was quite a way from Aurora, where I was staying. Thankfully, my friend Sam, (the founder of The Festival Voice), was able to help out and pick me up for the fest. We were out in the mile high city!

But all that worry just disappeared at the festival. Once I walked in, I got that “festival feeling” and was reminded of why I love festivals in the first place. First up, picture time! I wanted to spend some time taking some pictures of people around the festival. I love what I do at TFV and taking pictures of people is so much fun! I got so many awesome pictures, you’ll have to check out the gallery below!

There was a lot of talk at the festival about all the phoenixes that were around the festival. People were coming up with all kinds of interesting theories and the best one was the idea that Illenium was coming to Denver to do another Trilogy set like he did in Vegas last year. And they were right!! Get ready because Saturday, June 17th, 2023 is going to be the party of the year!

And the night was amazing from there! Did anyone else struggle to breathe? Gosh, I live 500 feet above sea level and the mile high city is so different! But anyway, Seven Lions is one of my absolute favorite artists and I loved checking him out! It was a dream taking photos of him. I was dancing my heart out and singing along. So much fun!

After that, we went over to the Northern Lights Stage. One thing I believe would improve Global is moving from tent stages to more open stages. Tents trap the sound inside, rather than out, and it’s hard to hear when it’s crowded like Wooli was at this fest.

Then, Above & Beyond started so the tent emptied out. Adventure Club was my FAVORITE set at Lost Lands this year, so I knew that I had to check them out. And boy, let me tell you, that set was something else. They absolutely slayed it! It was such an amazing set, I was in awe.

And then Day One was over and it was time to prep for Day Two. Day Two was less stressful because my brother-in-law was able to take us. He couldn’t the first day because he had to work so he only grabbed a one day pass. Day Two started out the same as I spent quite a bit of time taking pictures. I love connecting with people and everyone loves their photo being taken!

We started off the night at the Northern Lights stage again. Thankfully, it wasn’t too crowded and we could vibe the night away. We were grooving to Barely Alive and Kaivon before ARMNHMR came on. And they were definitely the best set of the night! I was singing and having a blast. Ben and Dave wanted to check out Liquid for a bit so we moseyed on over there before ending the night with legendary Excision. I wanted to get some awesome photos of Excision, but to be honest, I was too busy headbanging. I did get this one that was kind of cool, but like I said, I was too busy headbanging the set away to take photos.

And then the night was over. Global was one of those festivals that gives great vibes and has awesome sets. I would go back another year, especially because my brother-in-law lives in Aurora, so it’s easy to get to. I hope to come back again! Want links to the full-quality photos?
