Family Piknik

Family Piknik’s 2022 season will be divided in 4 events, starting on Sunday 31st of July in the futuristic Lunel’s Arenas, highlighting some of the best Deep-Progressive artists. Hernan Cattaneo b2b Nick Warren (3 hours sunset performance), Afterlife’s new stars Colyn b2b Denis Horvat and Nora en Pure will headline this Opening event along with Theus Mago b2b Pontias.
Freshly revamped in 2018 with a futuristic half-roof, Lunel’s Arenas look like a spaceship. 15 minutes east from Montpellier, Lunel is a quiet city with a rich history and cultural legacy, with many charms and local wine. Famous beaches of La Grande Motte are just 10 minutes away and you can reach them through a lovely green cycle way among famous flamingos, as natural landscape of Camargue starts in Lunel’s countryside. Camargue is a remarkable landscape, with salt (salins), sand, endemic vegetation and thousands of bird species living around. Local rice, horses and bulls give a specific charm to this area. Just walk a few minutes in the old town, you will immediately feel the Mediterranean culture and gastronomic pleasures calling for a perfect balance between sea and land.
Ideally located between Montpellier and Sète, 10 minutes away from Montpellier Saint-Roch by train, Frontignan is the heart of Thau’s Archipel, a natural mix of water, salt, sand and vegetation. Medieval city, with many historical monuments from 11th and 12th centuries, local specialities including its very own wine Frontignan, one of the most respected Muscat. Next to our festival’s location in Frontignan, you will find 7 kilometers of lovely beaches, oysters and all kind of aquatic pleasures including wakeboard and many more water sports from Frontignan Plage, one of the most enjoyable spots on Mediterranean Sea.
Béziers is one of the oldest towns hailing from south of France, Occitanie. His historical patrimony is very rich and diverse, with the Orb and Canal du Midi crossing the old lands with a series of 9 « Ecluses ». You can cruise and discover the great panoramas and gastronomy across several kilometers. Since 2021’s final event in these Arenas, Family Piknik has made of Béziers one of his favorite spots. Located in its monumental arenas, with a 12000 capacity, already legendary for all lovers of bull races and corridas. But Family Piknik has proved this edifice can also vibrate to the best of electronic music and will transform once again this massive spot into the most exciting dancefloors on October 1st with the one and only Paul Kalkbrenner in action.

Shake That Ass” kicks off with a pulsating bass and a hard-hitting, jaunty rhythm, paired with a pitched-down vocal cut. Leaving the iconic melody very much intact, Le Grand brings the refrain into a hyper-charged and contemporary setting that’s sure to resonate with the modern audience.

“My new album is brimming with themes: Code switching- how you change yourself slightly depending on who you’re with and what is happening. The concept of a chameleon- how the animal changes colors based on what environment they’re in. In this case, I am the chameleon, and my behaviors, feelings, actions, etc. are all changing based on the situation. People give the advice of “being yourself” but they don’t talk about how there’s not just one version of yourself. There’s multiple that add up to who you are. As for the title itself, chameleon comes from the Greek word “khamai” meaning “on the ground, earth” and “leon” meaning “lion” (Hunjiya herself is a leo).

As a huge fan, since the start of the early and late French House era I tried to focus on getting that specific feeling back. With ‘I Found You’ I’ve tried to combine the emotional feeling with a powerful drive. Something that’s done a lot in the French scene. I’m lying if I didn’t mention “Demon – You Are My High” as an inspiration for this track. It’s my absolute favorite track of the French era. Tatum Gale- Poison Darty

Songwriter/producer Tatum Gale shares “Poison Darty,” a brand new single off his forthcoming debut album, Pretty Green (due May 2023).

How do you find yourself again after getting lost in the sauce? “Poison Darty” by indietronica maven Tatum Gale finds getting back to solid ground after a maudlin bacchanal isn’t so simple. A nocturnal spirit and spindly synth emblematize a bender fugue state alongside a charmingly demonic internal monologue by Laura Jinn, creating a hazy space that’s both self-aware and self-indulging—a contradiction all too familiar to anyone who knows it’s getting late, but isn’t ready to head home.

Time- Hydrangea

Jump Start Records and Philadelphia-based indie rock quintet Time are excited to announce the release of Hydrangea, the band’s debut full-length album (purchase). While its core members are veterans of Phillys hardcore scene via bands such as Kill VeronaNo Roses and Shark Attack, Times own inspiration and sound is derived from the dark and heavy shoegaze/noise-pop of touchstones such as My Bloody Valentine, Sugar, Swervedriver and Catherine Wheel but with its own blushing melody and shine. Time’s initial release, 2018s In Decline EP (Low Dose Records), set the foundation for what Hydrangea would build upon: nuanced layers of delayed guitars, lyrically fluid bass progressions and two-part vocal melodies, all anchored to a confidently nimble backbeat.

Valeron – Fragile

A rare feat for a well-versed hand that has helped shape an island’s electronic music scene and now DJs from a pedestal, Valeron’s 2022 album Aroma frames Greece’s diverse musical history through a contemporary lens and acts as a testament to the current collaborative milieu of the island — a dance between Mediterranean and Middle Eastern instruments, all acoustic and recorded live, with the Mykonos native‘s hovering hand on mixers and synths.
