Akriza & Mah Ze Tar- Where You Are, Now

Allie Crow Buckley- Utopian Fantasy

Los Angeles & London-based atmospheric folk-pop artist, Allie Crow Buckley, unveils her otherworldly sophomore album, Utopian Fantasy. Embarking on a transcendent sonic voyage, this lush record takes the listener on a psychedelic journey into the depths of Buckley’s psyche, intertwining Greek Mythology, the mysterious realm of the faerie, and influences of fashion, dance, and poetry. With sonic shades and influences of Joni Mitchell and Black Sabbath, the record was recorded at the 4AD Studio in London, mastered at Abbey Road, and was written, recorded, and produced by Allie Crow Buckley and Jason Boesel (Rilo Kiley, Bright Eyes) everywhere from a small cottage in the lush English countryside to the sunny mountains of Ojai, California, and several hotels in between.

Corvair- Shady Town

Portland-based indie pop band Corvair are excited to share their new single and video “Shady Town. The song is the second track to be released off their sophomore album Bound To Be out June 23 via Paper Walls and UK label Where It’s At is Where You Are (pre-order). The riff-heavy pop song lands in the long tradition of ‘let’s get out of town’ songs. “Shady Town” debuted today at Flood Magazine and will be on all streaming platforms on Friday for any playlist shares (pre-save).

Storied English pop-rock band Dexys (formerly Dexys Midnight Runners) — who are perhaps best known for their Brit Award-winning commercial smash-hit “Come On Eileen,” which reached number one in 8 countries and became the best-selling single in the UK and US in 1982 — are finally returning in full swing with their first new record of original material in over a decade, The Feminine Divine, due July 28 via 100% Records. FORAGER- Fuji or a Trek

First, a spontaneous bike ride to Coney Island, then a chance encounter with your high school English teacher at a rave. These two events inspired the sentiment behind “Fuji or a Trek”: things that used to make you feel youthful suddenly seem to do the opposite. That theme is underscored by a dramatic musical gesture—halfway through the song the uptempo drum and bass beat swerves into a slow, heavy funk groove.

Glove- Chewing on a Wire

Glove releases their first single of 2023, “Chewing on a Wire” alongside a texturally rich official video. Fusing elements of post punk and new wave, Glove both sonically and visually specializes in the intentional clashing of elements. In the self-directed arthouse official video, viewers are invited into a harmonious dance of flesh and wire, further tangling them into the unending fractals of nature and those that are manmade.

Godlands- Crashing

Dynamic producer and DJ Godlands continues her hot streak of genre-bending tracks with “Crashing,” out today on Monstercat Uncaged. The record marks the third single from her EP that is arriving next month. “Crashing” carries on her upcoming EP’s narrative of her experience with Imposter Syndrome and other personal battles. Although she reworked the track multiple times, Godlands overcame feelings of self-doubt and delivered a powerful electronic record. The single puts Godlands’ versatile stylings forward in an innovative light as she injects her exploration of breaks with epic trap leads. Fans can hear Godlands’ fresh tunes from her upcoming EP live as she returns to Tomorrowland this year.

Great Northern- ANIML

Hailing from multiple territories in California, Great Northern are back with a clear vision and a new found lust for creating.

In January 2023 the band released a string of new songs and today they are sharing their latest single, “ANIML.” The track debuted at Post-Punk and the song is on all streaming platforms for any playlist shares. Post-Punk on the track, “Employing a potent mix of keyboards and drum machines, coupled with assertive guitar work and soaring vocals, ‘ANIML’s sound is founded on raw emotional drive and a tender, albeit ferocious, vulnerability.” Great Northern will be releasing several new songs this spring, with a full record to follow later this year.

Greensky Bluegrass- Congratulations & Condolences

Greensky Bluegrass are thrilled to share “Congratulations & Condolences,” a rare B-Side release from their most recent album Stress Dreams. The song was co-written by Greensky’s Paul Hoffman (mandolin, vocals) and Joshua Davis (Steppin’ In It, Shout Sister Shout). After Davis lost his father and received a son days apart, the timing of back-to-back congratulations and condolences provided striking context to the complexity of life and friendship. The song is available today on DSPs HERE. The accompanying video for “Congratulations & Condolences” showcases exclusive footage from the studio. The visuals, recorded on 8mm tape, underscore the lyricism and depth of the song: “How did we become friends like this/congratulations and condolences.”

Boundary-pushing, LA multimedia band Groupthink shares before the afters. 

Taking notes from the indie-dance and French electro pop movements of the early 2010s, Pigeons & Planes “Best New Artist” indie dance powerhouse, Groupthink’s before the aftersis LA’s answer to the resurgence of indie sleaze. Mixing palettes of French electro, indie dance, and dance punk, the result is a sonic gestalt of childhood memories that have been compressed into the present day. Leaving Laurel- when the quiet comes

Leaving Laurel have announced their sophomore album ‘when the quiet comes’ will land May 19 via Anjunadeep, with the first single ‘one last thing you never said’ out now. The announcement marks a new chapter for band members Gordon Huntley and Griff Fulton following the difficult loss of Pierce Fulton, whose talent and passion were immortalised in Leaving Laurel’s acclaimed self-titled 2020 debut album.

Enter the ethereal sonic realm of Paul Chriske, the German musical maestro known as Powel, who specializes in “creating harmonious illusions of sound.” Powel is a longtime family member of Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream imprint, having first released on the label in 2015. Austin trio Rickshaw Billie’s Burger Patrol just completed the first leg of their summer U.S. tour dates and today added July shows with Crobot. The Hudson Valley, NY based indie rock-folk band Setting Sun shares their self-produced, first album in ten years, The Feelings Cureout everywhere now via Young Love Records. The long-awaited album meets the band where they are today. Through driving upbeat rhythms and introspective, optimistic lyrics, the group looks back at what made them who they are today and discovers more of who they would like to be in the future. SKATERS’- Contemporary Me

10 short years have passed since SKATERS’ formation in Lower East Side Manhattan. Within months of forming and a self-released EP, the band was signed to Warner Brothers Records, toured around the world, had global critical acclaim from NME to the New York Times. Two years later, they released their debut album, Manhattan with WBR, were dropped, self-released their sophomore album Rock n Roll Bye Bye independently, and then disappeared. It was a whirlwind ride for the band that came at one of the most difficult transitions in the music industry – the exact time digital downloads plummeted, and streaming had not yet reached the masses. Sgt. Splendor- Death of the Hoochie Koo

When presented with the opportunity to break in a new studio at the same location the Grateful Dead recorded their first demos, most seasoned musicians would seize the chance to create at the sacred grounds to soak in the spirits of one of the most sought-after acts in modern music history. When Joby Pritzker and Aaron Vermut built The Jam Cave and co-founded Buena Vista West Records, they invited Sgt. Splendor, the New York City-based power duo of Kate Vargas and Eric McFadden to christen the new space alongside iconic engineer Oz Fritz (Tom Waits, Bill Laswell, Iggy Pop). During a 3-day recording session, what was initially anticipated to yield one or two singles turned into a full-length album, Death of the Hoochie Koo, coming out on May 19th via Buena Vista West Records.

G59 Record$ and New Orleans duo $uicideboy$ have announced their annual Grey Day Tour for 2023, which will include over 40 shows across the country. The tour starts on August 25th at Legacy Arena in Birmingham, AL, and will visit Phoneix, AZ, on October 06th. Presented by Relentless BeatsUniversatile Music, and AEG, support acts for the Arizona date will include Ghostemane, City Morgue, Freddie Dredd, Sematary, and Ramirez, before continuing through October 30th in Denver, CO. The Phoenix stop of the 2022 Grey Day Tour sold out with over 20,000 attendees- the largest show at the Phoenix Raceway to date.

TELECOMS- Ramon

TELECOMS is the new project and band from Brooklyn-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sean McVerry (who has previous credits working/touring with artists such as Karen ODanger MouseAURORA, and pieces of the roster on J Cole‘s Dreamville label). The project — which melds 60s brit-pop influence with touches of late 2000’s NY indie grit and hints of cheeky theatrics — recently made its debut with a first single entitled “Ramon,” and now, it’s being followed up with the release of another track, “Two Steps,” alongside an accompanying video directed by Matt Speno.

Back in 2012, Thee Oh Sees made their first appearance at Austin Psych Fest, performing an electrified set at Emo’s East. The first of the band’s many LEVITATION appearances down in Austin, this show has been revisited for a new series of vinyl releases, Live at LEVITATION, immortalizing it on glorious 12″ colored wax, mixed by John Dwyer and mastered for vinyl by JJ Golden.
