Direct- Twice Now
If you’re into electronic music, it’s quite likely the name ‘Direct’ rings a bell immediately. Whether you know the Ohio-based producer from one of his successful Monstercat releases such as “I’ll Go”, or “Margarita”, from one of many collaborations with artists like CloudNone, Danyka Nadeau, Mr. FijiWiji, and AK, or from his official remixes for Seven Lions or Midnight Kids, you might know him as the creator of the popular mixing tool “MiniMeters”, which you undoubtedly have seen come by on Twitter.
And if you know Direct well, you know him to make a blend of mellow, UK Garage-infused EDM. Now, he has joined San Holo’s bitbird to break out of that box, and start a new chapter in his career. Although his new single “Twice Now” isn’t on the complete opposite side of that, it does offer us something we haven’t heard from Direct before. Something more complex, innovative, and slightly more aggressive.

…like butterfly wings is Alguire’s 9th album and her first label release. It’s fresh like a breeze and free of beats, with tracks structured around a handful of piano notes so expertly placed they sound alight with power. through the boughs of the garden is a good example; the four-minute production sounds like getting lost in the mist. “It reminds me of Burial in a way,” Alguire says. “There are these little moments that feel like they’re emerging out the night and being whisked away.” Alguire wanted to keep the album as stripped back as possible, so recorded everything with a basic DAW and two synthesizers. “I think it really helped focus the palette,” she says.

Inspired heavily by the lyrical work of Alex Cameron in his parody of Toxic Masculinity and also the work of Jonathan Bree, Kirin J Callinan and John Maus. Riddled with gritty basslines and serpentining melodies, ‘Nightmares’ is chilling from start to finish. Keeping in line, Plastic Robots’ solo offering ‘Armada’ spirals into a frenzy of deep bass stabs, wonky synth lines and crisp percussion for a spine-tingling 6 minutes.
Tampa, FL’s beloved, emo veterans POHGOH and Spartan Records are excited to share “Over/Under” the band’s latest single lifted from their anticipated album du und ich – German for “you and I” – out November 4 (pre-order). “Over/Under” is about the random uncertainty of odds while living through a traumatic experience. In the fall of 2018 POHGOH’s Susie Ulrey spent three terrifying weeks in the hospital (including a stint in the ICU) due to a very rare reaction to an MS (Mulitple Sclerosis) treatment she had taken years prior. “The odds eventually tilted in my favor when I was finally sent home, though in a pretty fragile state with a slow, months-long recovery ahead of me,” says Susie. She adds, “Part of the healing process was writing about it. We wanted to reflect some light out of the tunnel through the upbeat ending and my self-assuring, if not tentative declaration of, ‘I’m happy to be here.'”
Puppy Angst- Scorpio Season
Puppy Angst is a moody quartet from Philadelphia started by Alyssa Milman (guitar and vocals, they/them). Salem Ilese- Secret Santa

With Christmas just around the corner, singer/songwriter Salem Ilese just released the next Christmas carol to get stuck in your head. Salem Ilese is no stranger to witty, tongue in cheek lyrics, and “Secret Santa” does not disappoint. In the festive track, the singer happily takes over Santa Claus’ job drinking almond milk on Christmas Eve and getting Fortnite and Teslas for people who aren’t on her naughty list. Salem Ilese is a master at writing captivating carols. “Secret Santa” follows two of her holiday hits, “Thank You Note” and “Marry Christmas” which have amassed over 18 million streams worldwide.
Sam Short- Taste It
Sam Short is back with “Taste It,” another heart-wrenching pop single – this time, an ode to an ex who cheated on her. “Was she worth it?” — the track’s very first line — is a question most people who have been cheated on can resonate with. And they clearly have. The sad, yet fierce, alt-pop record exploded on social media ahead of its release, amassing over 10M+ total views on its teasers in only a few weeks. With over 20,000 pre-saves and growing, “Taste It” may be Sam’s biggest song yet.
S.C.A.B.- Small Talk

Relying on frontman Drew Thomson’s songwriting for the very first time in the band’s long and compelling history, Everything You Need is a set of songs written prior to the world shutting down in 2020 and whose poetic title is inspired by the name of a convenience store he’d walk past almost every day during the pandemic. “Everything you need,” Thomson says, “is just such a beautiful name for a place that sells lottery tickets and cigarettes and Coke Zero and Oh Henry’s.”

Brooklyn-based experimental disco-punk outfit TVOD (Television Overdose) returns with the release of a brand new single entitled “Mantis,” a track they describe as a “loud, fast, and persistent, straight to the point tune […] our energy booster.” It comes alongside an accompanying music video, directed by John Clouse.

wes mills- nintendo 64
If you grew up in the 90s, you grew up with the Nintendo 64. And although new technology has made this console seem ancient by now, no modern-day console can live up to the nostalgic feeling the old-school Nintendo 64 brings you.
wes mills realized this when stumbling upon the all-time classic snowboarding game “1080” a couple of months back, and what quickly rolled out of that encounter was a nostalgic house track perfectly encapsulating the excitement you felt when getting to play the game, any game really, on the Nintendo 64 as a kid. A futuristic sounding soundtrack to a game that was futuristic for its time.
WHIPPED CREAM- Be Here
Following a string of highly-praised records in one of her most boundary-pushing years to date, Canadian producer and singer-songwriter WHIPPED CREAM has joined forces with emerging LA-based producer and sound engineer The Duchess for their new single, “Be Here.” Accompanied by an evocative self-directed music video, the dark motifs tell a twisted love story where both women play an obsessed dual character after the same man. With a strong feminine energy driving the narrative, it’s a cinematic masterpiece that brings their combined production prowess to light, and WHIPPED CREAM’s impressive vocals to the forefront for the second time ever.

WILL K & Drove- Ghost
Following his chart-topping single “Flip Reset” with Kaskade and this year’s “I Don’t Really Care” with Neville, Australian house producer WILL K returned to Monstercat today, joining forces with Dutch electronic group Drove for the evocative single “Ghost.” The addictive groove, hypnotizing pads, and dreamy bassline are sonically reminiscent of fellow Aussie tastemakers like Cassian and Rüfüs Du Sol, yet distinctively driven by WILL’s eccentric artistry. Aptly titled just ahead of Halloween, the velvety vocals and dark chords make for a haunting heartbreak anthem.
Chicago-based experimental electronic producer and visual artist Yesterdayneverrhappened lives to subvert expectations. Despite making a name for themselves in the internet music scene with their infectious, video-game inspired jungle music (their track “Partmonst3r” had a viral Tik-Tok moment and has since amassed over 700k streams) and propensity to use video game hardware as instruments, the enigmatic artist is always trying to push the envelope further.
