Wanna Go To Okeechobee For Free?!?!?

Okeechobee Is Back and You Could Go For FREE!!!

After a year off, the return of Okeechobee is slated to be one of the biggest and best fests of the year. With headliners like Rufus du Sol, Bassnectar, and Tipper, this is sure to be a paramount Insomniac event that you don’t want to miss (check out the full lineup below)! The festival is just two hours south of Orlando and on the shores of a lake. Okee is fondly known as “the Portal”, a gateway that will take you to other realms. But that gateway might be difficult for just anyone to get through.

With Tier 2 prices ending soon, a full-price fest ticket might not be in your ballpark. However, if festival-going has taught us anything, it’s that all is possible for those who dream big and work hard. After all, YOU are the festival! So why not take part in the magic and make your dreams a reality?

Take it from me: the closer you are to the work of putting on a festival, the more meaningful the experience. Some might attend music fests to let go of reality and get lost in the sauce, and that’s one way to do it, but there’s another way to live the festival dream and keep your pocketbook in check.

If you’re still wondering how to get through the Portal this March 5th-8th, here are two amazing opportunities to get involved at Okeechobee:

Work Exchange Team (WET)

WET offers you 18 hours of minimum wage work and a discounted ticket price through a reimbursement. When you finish your three 6 hour shifts on-site during the festival, you will receive $135 + the paycheck from your work. Positions include everything from working the information booth to directing parking. WET also lets you select a “not to miss” set, so you can be sure to catch that artist you’ve been waiting for. The work is simple, the money back is clutch, and work exchange groups you with fun people from across the country. Plus, you get access to showers and a reserved camping area when you check in on March 4. Visit WET’s website for more and apply today while spots are still available! If you apply by Feb 14, you will be entered to win a VIP package for two!

Okeechobee Clean Vibes (CV)

Having worked with CV all summer, I can assure you this is an organization worthy of your time. CV cleans festival grounds across the country. From Native American powwows to metal shows, CV has been cleaning it all for 25 years. While picking up festival waste might seem tedious, it’s an essential part of continuing a festival’s legacy for generations to come. There are two options for volunteering with CV: three 6 hour shifts during the fest OR two ten-hour shifts post-fest on Tuesday and Wednesday. CV collects a refundable deposit of $280 + $25 application fee upfront. CV lets you pay in advance, work your shifts, and then you get your deposit back. I prefer to volunteer after the show for an uninterrupted Okee experience.

If you opt for volunteering during the fest, you might buss tables, talk to people about proper recycling, or clear the pit of debris after a set. You could hear music while you work and do good for the planet all at once. Be sure to communicate clearly with CV and keep your head straight during the festival to get the most out of your experience. Check out the Clean Vibes website for more.

Find me after the fest, cleaning up the shores and catching some rays. Whatever work you choose, have fun! You’re making it possible for all of us. And a kind word to all festival-goers: keep the ground clean and recycle. And stay safe even as you drift through the Portal and beyond this Okeechobee! See you on the other side!
