Artist Biography

Danielle Ponder is a singer/songwriter from New York who dabbles in mixing blues, gospel, trip-hop, and R&B. She grew up in a musical family but pursued a career in law after her brother got a 20-year prison sentence due to New York’s “three strikes” law. When she finished law school, she became a public defender in Rochester but never gave up on making music in her spare time. Danielle would play in bands and even tour while still working as a public defender. In 2018, she was struggling to balance her law work and her music aspirations and decided to do music full-time. After putting in some work, she landed with Australian label Future Classic with her first single being “Look Around” featuring Melbourne’s Karate Boogaloo. Two years later Danielle released her debut album Some of Us Are Brave.
