Slow Violence, the new double album by Occurrence, is an expansive statement about vulnerability and decay, about the things that terrify us and liberate us. Bandleader Ken Urban (electronics, synths & beats), Cat Hollyer (vocals, flute) and Johnny Hager (vocals) have created an album that reveals the “slow violence” that accrues over the course of our lives. After a pandemic-imposed separation, the band stretched out and experimented, repurposing previous recordings to craft an evocative album that captures both the bliss of falling in love and the pain of failure slapping you in the face. The album drops April 7, 2023, and features guest appearances from Kip Berman of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Christian Frederickson of Rachel’s, actor Peter Mark Kendall from TV’s THE AMERICANS, plus Johnny’s dad on trombone and Alexander McCabe on saxophone. Long-time band associate Daniel Kluger (TONY-nominated composer) contributed additional production on three tracks. The album was mixed by Kiri Stensby, who makes music as Hara Kiri, and mastered by GRAMMY-nominated engineer Jessica Thompson.

Rohaan- Musket

Rohaan releases new single “Musket” ft. Flowdan on HARD Recs.

UK native Rohaan has positioned himself one of the most buzzing names to emerge from the drum & bass scene, with a sound that spans brain-tickling liquid all the way over to the darker, hard-hitting side of the spectrum. On his latest single for HARD Recs, he’s leaning towards the latter with help from venerated MC and grime mastermind Flowdan. “Musket” is a heavy drum & bass weapon that shows the veteran lyricist comes in with guns ablazing as he rides the groove with merciless flows about shutting down the opposition, while Rohaan provides coverfire with low-slung synth warbles, intricate drum programming, haunting hi-pitched vocal textures, elastic low-end, and ever-changing atmospherics that make the track exciting at every turn.

Scoville Unit- Reasons

Ernest Jenning Record Co., Trash Casual and NY metro area indie-rock quartet Scoville Unit are excited to announce the FridayJune 2 release of the band’s new album, See What Can Be (pre-order/pre-save HERE). See What Can Be brims with a newfound confidence and mastery of the band’s craft that features tight, crunchy, ’60s-influenced pop-rock with big, baited hooks alongside jangling and fuzz-drenched guitars — imagine Brian Wilson growing up in Asbury Park instead of Malibu.

Leading the collection is the bright and sunny “Reasons,” which is a modern day spin on a classic love song. It tells the story of a man who simply can’t focus when his significant other is in his vicinity until he realizes that he shouldn’t be focusing on anything other than her anyway. This playful and infectious pop gem is a Rumours-inspired earworm, but presented with dopamine-fueled guitar-rock energy.

Synymata- Running Out/ You Hurt Me

Synymata releases new double-sided single ‘Running Out / You Hurt Me’ on NIGHTMODE.

Milwaukee-grown producer Synymata has made a name for himself in the electronic music sphere with a sound that fuses glitchy melodic elements with heavy bass influences. He is returning to NIGHTMODE with his follow-up two-track effort ‘Running Out / You Hurt Me.’ On the lead track, he teams up with dynamic bass artist ODEA and explosive singer-songwriter Donna Tella on the A-side “Running Out.” It’s a moody slice of hardwave powered by Donna’s arresting vocal belts, cinematic string swells, punchy drum patterns, and the dark synth progressions that soar above the reverberating low-end. Synymata’s label debut last year “Guilty” with Elle Vee drew press pickup from This Song Is Sick, EKM, Dancing Astronaut, Your EDM, Earmilk, Audiocult. ODEA released on the label with his electro-fueled “Streets” in 2020 and been tapped for remixes by Said The Sky, Dabin, William Black. Donna has amassed 7M streams from tracks alongside Excision, Blanke, Culture Code

The Hails- Fiona

The Hails pull back the curtain on another layer of their upcoming debut album with the release of “Fiona.” An occult, otherworldly groove, the track evocatively tells the tale of being caught in the orbit of a larger-than-life femme fatale, who seems to single handedly hold life together. Half functioning as a thank you letter and half asking far too much of someone else, the song grasps firmly onto the life raft of Fiona Apple’s discography. With production by Pat Howard of Magic City Hippies, the dominance of the Florida indie scene is on full display with “Fiona” –
