Artist Biography

Charley Crockett, who is a distant relative to Davy Crockett, is a country artist that pulls from the Americana mythos in his music. He was born in San Benito, the same city as Freddy Fender. Charley was raised by a single mother in Los Fresnos by a single mother who sang the blues in her spare time. His uncle had a fondness for New Orleans brass bands which spread to Charley enough for him to move to New Orleans in his late teens where he started busking. In his street shows he would add bits of country and swing to his baseline of Americana blues. In 2009, he moved to New York City where he continued to busk and would join the group called the Trainrobbers. Charley left the band before they recorded their first album and made his way to California and then back to Dallas where he recorded his debut album A Stolen Jewel in 2015. The album was heavily blues influenced. However, his follow-up album the next year, In the Night, had him swaying more towards a country sound. Charley toured for a year and then signed to Thirty Tigers. After some successful releases including a collection of genre-bending originals called Lonesome as a Shadow, he hit the road again with his backing band, the Blue Drifters. Then in 2019, Charley learned he was suffering from bicuspid aortic valve stenosis from his congenital heart condition Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. He underwent open-heart surgery the same year and would release his sixth album The Valley that fall including the single “Borrowed Time.” Charley saw more success with releases during the pandemic and even made it on Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Festival Tour in 2022, sharing the stage with Willie Nelson himself and the LEGENDARY Billy Strings. Charley also released the album The Man from Waco in 2022 which cracked the Billboard Top 200.
