Artist Biography

Tedeschi Trucks Band is the Jacksonville-based blues-rock ensemble whose expansive, genre-crossing approach to American roots music has transformed the traditions of blues, soul, jazz, and improvisational rock into one of modern live music’s most technically accomplished collective performances. Formed in 2010 by husband-and-wife musicians Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks following years of collaborative touring, the 12-piece group merged the musicianship of their respective solo projects into a large-format ensemble built around layered horn arrangements, dual drummers, gospel-influenced vocal harmonies, and Trucks’ fluid slide-guitar work. Their Grammy-winning debut Revelator established a sonic blueprint that would continue evolving across releases such as Made Up Mind, Signs, and the ambitious four-part project I Am the Moon, each expanding the band’s intricate balance between tightly structured songwriting and improvisational freedom. Known for marathon live performances that blur the boundaries between blues revue, Southern soul orchestra, and jam-band spontaneity, Tedeschi Trucks Band translates studio sophistication into deeply organic concert experiences where technical precision and emotional immediacy operate in constant dialogue. With Tedeschi’s powerhouse vocal delivery anchoring Trucks’ expressive guitar phrasing and the ensemble’s dynamic rhythmic interplay, the group has become a defining force in contemporary roots music, carrying forward the lineage of classic American live performance traditions while continually reshaping them for modern festival audiences.
