The Festival Voice Presents: Bad Snacks Live at Solshine Reverie

We recently got to sit down with Bad Snacks at Solshine Reverie! It was awesome getting to chat with her. Here’s the complete interview!

S: Hey it’s Savannah with The Festival Voice and I am here with Bad Snacks, who plays tonight at Solshine Reverie. So tell me, what are you most excited about?

BS: Definitely playing some unreleased tunes. I hear that the stage in the forest I’m at is really fun and vibrant and I’m just looking forward to vibing with everyone.

S: That’ll be really cool, yeah that Forest stage is awesome. And you are at 11, am I correct?

BS: Yes, I am.

S: So, tell me, what have you been up to lately? New music, tours, things like that.

BS: Yeah! So I just released an EP called Home Music. That one is kind of getting into my “Comfortable House.” Era which is kind of like jazzy house vibes so that’s been a new wave that I’ve been on so a lot of shows I’ve had have been that vibe.

S: So you said you’ve been doing a lot of shows. Are you on tour? Doing more festivals?

BS: I got a few coming up this summer, hoping to take things on tour in the fall. But right now it’s just a big old festival circuit.

S: Yeah, that’s what summer is all about, that’s the best part, right? So you mentioned an EP.  Do you have a favorite track or something special about it?

BS: It’s hard to pick a favorite track. I think they kind of all work together. They’re like siblings- like a little family. It’s really such a fun vibe for me, just new territory. I’ve done the lo-fi, chill, downtempo thing for awhile so now this is me getting more into the things that I love about dance music.

S: So is this your first time at Solshine Reverie? Well, everybody’s first time at Solshine Reverie, but your first time at Summer Camp?

BS: Yes, yes, it is and I’m so pleasantly surprised by how beautiful everything is and how everybody just seems super, super chill. It’s just a really good vibe.

S: Yeah, this is one of my favorite festivals, for sure. Anyways, so where are you from?

BS: Originally from the Boston area but I live in Los Angeles now.

S: So do you play a lot of shows in Los Angeles?

BS: I have historically. Right now I am just focusing more on the festival circuit. But that was how I came up. I used to do beatsets and these local events like all the time, for years. Basically up until the pandemic.

S: So for tonight, do you have a super special track that you’re going to play? There’s always something that pumps the audience up and gets them going. What’s your go to track for that?

BS: Well, I have a couple of go to tracks that are just personally fun for me. But I think the thing I’m most excited for about tonight is that I’m playing two remixes that have not come out yet and I’m pretty geeked on both on them.

S: That’ll be really exciting. Can you share about what those are or not yet?

BS: Yeah, so I can. I don’t keep secrets. I have a really loud mouth. So one of them is remix from one of the tracks on my EP done by my friend Omari Jazz  and the other one is remix that I actually did for my favorite dance producer in the game right now. Nobody knows about him yet, which is a crime, his name is Wealstarcks. He’s from São Paulo, Brazil. I’m just like so geeked that he even let me touch his stems. So I’m really excited to play both of those tonight for sure.

S: If you had any piece of advice for your fans, what would you say?

BS: Just vibe out, vibe out. And take naps when you need to. Potato mode is always encouraged.

S: Definitely, I like my naps! So anything else you want to share?

BS: No, I’m just really excited to vibe with everybody tonight.

S: Awesome, I’m excited to check it out tonight! We’re here with Bad Snacks and The Festival Voice, see you later!
