Hulaween: The East Coast’s Ultimate Halloween Party!
It’s almost that time of year again for all the ghouls, vampires, werewolves, and zombies to come out and rage the night away on Halloween, and we couldn’t be more excited! But with SOOOO many great options to choose from, which Halloween bash do you go to this year? I have been to several festivals throughout my years, but none have ever quite compared to the beauty, or the magical feeling I’ve felt, quite like Hulaween at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida happening again this October 26-28.
The Lineup…
For the last five years, Hulaween has been bringing some amazingly diverse and talented artists, and this year is no different with the lineup including headliners like The String Cheese Incident, Jamiroquai, ODESZA, Janelle Monáe, Tipper, The Revivalists, Vulfpeck, STS9, REZZ, Tory Lanez, Gramatik, NGHTMRE, Action Bronson, Lettuce, Trampled By Turtles, Stephen Marley, Bishop Briggs, Dr. Dog, TroyBoi, Medeski Martin & Wood, Lizzo, Mavis Staples, Emancipator, Ensemble, Snakehips, The Wood Brothers, Galactic, The Polish Ambassador & The Diplomatic Scandal, Manic Focus & The MF’n Band, OPIUO, Yonder Mountain String Band, Turkuaz, Trevor Hall, SunSquabi, Soulection, Justin Martin, Fisher, Bustle In Your Hedgerow, and many more!
Thursday kicks off the festivities with a pre-party that features two sets from both Joe Russo’s Almost Dead and STS9, and other musical acts including Axe The Cables, Lettuce, The Infamous Stringdusters, The Floozies, Papadosio, EOTO & Friends, Minnesota, Kyle Hollingsworth Band, Rayland Baxter, Ghost Light, Cory Wong, Psymbionic, Marco Benevento, The Broadcast, CBDB, Kaleigh Baker, Ajeva, Locochino, Funk You, Honey Hounds, Side Hustle, and Just Chameleon!
Hulaween’s Talent Buyer and Partner, Micheal Berg, had this to say about this year’s lineup, “Our entire team obsesses over the lineup from top to bottom. Within our means, we strive to make sure it’s exactly what the #HulaCrew is looking for musically when they come visit us in Florida for the weekend at Suwannee. While there are many acts procured and/or lost throughout the difficult booking process, the 2018 lineup came together magically and feels like in year 6, it’s our strongest to date. One special artist addition for us all this year was landing 1 of only 5 total US Jamiroquai performances for their first time stateside in 13+ years. This will be the South East exclusive performance for the Grammy award-winning pioneers of future funk from the UK. It’s a full circle moment for us as fans, and a dream come true as independent promoters to work with a living legend who’s music and career has had such a profound effect on our path to where & who we are.”
The Experience…
Suwannee Music Park is one of the most beautiful venues I have ever seen, and there is just something special about the Spirit of Suwannee that is unlike any other. Hulaween itself is set up in the middle of 800 acres of moss-covered cypress and oak trees right along the Suwannee River. They have the largest bat house in the Southeast United States and have more guest comforts than any other festival I’ve ever attended including a general store, full-service restaurant, free showers, indoor bathrooms, and water stations!
The Hulaween experience itself is completely out of this world as well! The vibes and sense of community are beyond any other festival experience in my opinion. You can start your day off with some yoga, or attend one of their many workshops. It SOOOO easy to get yourself lost in the artistic portal of Spirit Lake! There is ALWAYS something new and exciting to do at Hulaween!
