Hey, festy fam! Happy July 17th! I just spent this weekend at Global Dance and can’t wait to share my photos with you all! Here’s our weekly roundup feature for this week!
Above & Beyond – Screwdriver (Jono’s Summer of 1995 Mix)
A star act within the Anjuna label family (an A&R hotbed that is home to stars such as Ben Böhmer, Yotto, and Mat Zo), Andrew Bayer has released multiple critically acclaimed LPs, earned 2 Grammy nominations for his work with dance music icons Above & Beyond and played major festivals around the world from Creamfields, Electric Zoo and Electric Daisy Carnival. His genre-bending music has encompassed everything from atmospheric downtempo and Anjunadeep-released deep house to jagged glitchy electro and his trademark cutting-edge anthemic trance. Drawing influence from the indie and alternative worlds while slaying the biggest EDM stages around, he is a dance music outlier in the vein of electronic music iconoclasts Porter Robinson, Madeon, and fellow Anjunabeats alumni Mat Zo.
Andrew Bayer & Asbjørn – American Boy
The fourth single taken from Andrew Bayer’s upcoming double album ‘Duality’ on Anjunabeats, Danish singer/songwriter Asbjørn. One of many LGBTQ+ collaborators across the project, Asbjørn brings his twisted pop style to ‘American Boy’, singing about cross-continental love in uncertain times.
Anjunabeats Volume 16
Aspyer – Chrome Heart
After an exciting streak of releases, Aspyer is ready to reveal the bigger picture of his output in the last months; his brand new EP ‘Chrome Heart’. Completing the EP, he’s releasing ‘Baby’ today. The track started with a violin melody, explaining the light vibe that can be heard throughout with the vocals beautifully sounding over the notes of the background melody.
Bandaid Brigade- Perfect
Xtra Mile Recordings and “Yacht Punks” Bandaid Brigade are excited to present “Perfect,” the latest single to be lifted from the Friday, August 26 release of the band’s forthcoming full-length album, Sex Is Terrifying (pre-order). A stomping, feel-good piano-rock anthem, “Perfect” follows the release of carefree album singles “Abacus” and “Hit The Buck.” Bandaid Brigade’s Brian Wahlstrom had the following to share about “Perfect”: “Luckily, due to our miscommunication skills, we accidentally showed up two days early in New Orleans to record the album. We all of a sudden had a few days off to ‘get acclimated’ to the city and write a few more songs in Zach’s living room. [Paul] Rucker had this one in his back pocket, it was perfect.”
Ben Kim and Piero Pirupa – Wild
Two of Italy’s most in-demand producers Ben Kim and Piero Pirupa join forces a dancefloor-ready reimagination of iconic 1968 rock anthem ‘Born To Be Wild’ by Steppenwolf.
Belief, the experimental dance music project of Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Kurt Vile, Courtney Barnett) and Boom Bip, share their self-titled debut album, Belief, today on Lex Records—listen here. A video for “Dreams,” directed by Maxim Kelly, is out today.
Blake Coddington- Go To Hell
Big Loud Rock, the new alternative/rock imprint of Big Loud Records, and Letdown. are excited to present the music video for “Go To Hell,” the latest single from Chicago/Nashville-based songwriter and vocalist Blake Coddington. A song about everyone’s toxic addiction to what hurts them the most, the Alex Zarek-directed video for “Go To Hell” encapsulates Coddington’s internal struggle as he deals with a world of chaos, knowing how damaging he is to himself as he doesn’t recognize anyone else around him.
Bloods- Take Aim
BOLO THE DJ- Back To Me
Burgeoning San Diego-based house producer BOLO THE DJ returned to his Latin roots today, teaming up with singer-songwriter Lánre for their debut collaborative single, with his new moombahton record, “Back 2 Me.” Drawing inspiration from late 2000s pop anthems, Lánre’s sultry vocals reflect the desire to escape reality and lose oneself in the music. The warm synths and crisp percussion blend perfectly with the powerful brass stabs and deep bassline, a testament to BOLO’s refined production stylings. With more music on the horizon, “Back 2 Me” signals a new chapter in BOLO’s career as he looks forward to developing his artistry with music that’s reflective of his roots and personal growth.
Broke Royals- Local Support
Local Support is an album about being brutally honest, savoring small moments, and finding the strength to start over. Despite being the band’s third full length album, in many ways it feels like their debut. For years, the band was putting one foot in front of the other with gigs and writing, it was a grind, albeit a familiar one. After the world came to a screeching halt in 2020 and the dust began to settle, it appeared that not everything should go back to the way it was. Even relationships within Broke Royals were strained, leaving the future of the band feeling uncertain.

Damn Jackals- Rivals
The Rivals EP marks Damn Jackals’ first vinyl release, and it is an energetic stylistic update that demonstrates the variety, energy and potency of Damn Jackals’ sound. Conceptually and lyrically, each song on Rivals displays many different traits that can become our own “Rivals” by working against ourselves – such as vanity, addiction, pompous pride, greed and self righteousness. Although Rivals is brief – It is a current mission statement and a solid sonic taste of what’s to come from the band in the future as they work on their next full length LP.

Initially taking influence from a crate digging session, ‘Best Days’ quickly took shape as Rae laid down her vocals over the original demo while Rob Harris (of Jamiroquai fame) added his influence on guitars and bass.
